Obama administration testing Samsung and LG Phones, not Apple iPhone

“The White House is testing smartphones from Samsung Electronics Corp. and LG Electronics Inc. for internal use, a person familiar with the matter said, threatening one of the last and most high-profile strongholds of BlackBerry Ltd,” Will Connors reports for The Wall Street Journal. “”

“The devices are being tested by the White House’s internal technology team and the White House Communications Agency, a military unit in charge of President Barack Obama’s communications, the person said,” Connors reports. “The tests are in the early stages, the person said, and any implementation of Samsung or LG phones is still ‘months away.’ There was no indication that Mr. Obama is switching from his modified BlackBerry.”

Connors reports, “Apple’s iPhone isn’t part of the testing program, the person familiar with the matter said.”

Forget for a moment about the security issues that Android delivers so proficiently (see below): Should the U.S. President be using an inferior foreign-made device… when a superior device has been created by a U.S. company? It seems logical that the U.S. President should be supporting U.S. companies.
