Apple iPhone users 86% less likely to need replacements vs. other smartphone users

ProtectCELL’s customer data shows that iPhone users are 86% less likely to need a replacement device compared to other smartphone users. This recent research measures the cause and frequency of mobile replacements for both smartphones and tablets across ProtectCELL’s two-million-plus plans sold.

When comparing the causes for device replacement, research suggests that iPhone users are less likely to break their device, but far more prone to misplacing their phone. According to ProtectCELL, iPhone owners are 11 percent less likely to report a broken or damaged device as compared to other smartphone users, but 65% more likely to request a replacement due to their device going missing.

MacDailyNews Take: Lost? Stolen is more like it. iPhones are more valuable than fragmandroid iPhone knockoffs or any other type of cellphone.

  1. I have another theory why iPhone users are more likely to lose their phones. They USE them more; carry them more; take them to more places. A lot of Android phones just sit on a desk or in a drawer and just don’t get the exposure to the possibility of being stolen or lost. (Of course, who would want to steal one anyway.)

  2. Results found that tablet owners in 2013 were nearly 90 percent more likely to submit a replacement request versus tablet users in 2012.”

Perhaps that is due to the growing proliferation of cheap a$$ iPad knockoffs.

  3. I actually like the iPhone 4 design. Glass back and front and super hard steel band. That thing never scratched even when I dropped it several times. 😊 wish the iPhone 6 will have a steel build than soft aluminum.

  4. There’s also the fact that the iPhone is on a pretty standard yearly release cycle vs. Android which has a new “flagship” phone every other month from Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, etc. – Appple has built a loyal fan base that no Android phone manufacturer has or will be able to re-create.
