“According to our sources, Apple retail employees were informed this morning that beginning today, anyone who purchases an Apple TV from Apple will receive a free $25 iTunes gift card,” Dan DeSilva reports for 9to5Mac. ‘Update: Apple has confirmed the promo, and according to the T&C online orders are also eligible.”

  1. I am anxiously waiting the new AppleTV and Mac mini…my new TV is all hooked up and ready to plug in the HDMI cords to both new devices. Now I have to get a cordless keyboard and mouse.

  2. The new mac mini was rumored to be announced at the end of February. Maybe “sources” meant February 29th. 🙂 I can’t help wondering how the new Apple TV, mac mini, media hub will all fit in Apple’s new ecosystem.

  3. Argh!

Part of me says: $25 off a $100 product that you’ve been considering for a while? Great! Snatch it up! The rumored new device might not be here for months or even years!

And the other part: But… there *could* be a new and improved device in mere weeks!! Save your money (you can only afford one!)

    Dear MDN,

    What should I do!?

    Forever yours,

  4. A new AppleTV? That would be nice if it solves some of my issues:
    1) Please allow access to slideshows created in iPhoto, including videos in those slideshows. It’s stupid that I have to export the slideshow as a movie to watch it on the apple TV.
    2) Allow me to add shortcuts to my movies and photos on the “desktop”. Access to iTunes Radio channels directly on the desktop would be nice also.
    3) Allow access to iTunes on my computer even if iTunes isn’t running.

    And while we’re at it…
    4) On the iPhone, allow access to Remote from the home screen.

  5. Not worth it. Untill it can either be jailbroken or you can somehow add Xbmc to it. Who wants to pay iTunes when I can get all my content for free? And tons of stuff I’d never find on iTunes. I just don’t get it.
