Apple’s Phil Schiller tweets link to another security report criticizing Android

“Last year, Apple executive Phil Schiller tweeted a link to a research report that noted significant growth in mobile malware, particularly on Android. The report found that Android accounted for 79 percent of mobile threats, with just 0.7 percent attacking iOS,” Jordan Golson reports for MacRumors.

“Today, Schiller followed up, tweeting a link to Cisco’s 2014 Annual Security Report,” Golson reports. “The report, which came out late last week, notes that while overall vulnerabilities are highest since tracking began in 2000, 99 percent of all mobile malware targeted Android devices — leaving iOS devices relatively unscathed thanks to Apple’s controlling mobile ecosystem.”

        1. I don’t think in all the history of tech CEO’s there’s ever been as blowhardy, crude, bullying, clueless, buffoonish a CEO as Uncle Fester aka Ballmer T. Clown. He is shamelessly self-parodying and embarrassingly uncool. Too bad Chris Farley didn’t live long enough to do an imitation. The closest of his characters to Ballmer being Matt Foley, a “motivational speaker” living in a van down by the Redmond river.

    1. Sure they can.

Some of the Fandroids are already saying Android has 90+% market share and iOS has fallen to less than 4% market share. The claim is that it’s Windows versus Mac OS all over again.

I’ve already heard the security through obscurity BS once. I expect to hear it again and again.

  1. So glad my wife upgraded to an iPhone from an android phone. I was hoping we wouldn’t get hit by something while she had it, since she shops, banks, etc through her phone.

  2. OMFrinkin’G how immature. First he de-friends Nest and now this.

Apple MUST fire Schiller, or its doomed… DOOMED I tells ya!

to riff off of a couple of other MDN headlines from the last couple of days.
