“Last year, Apple executive Phil Schiller tweeted a link to a research report that noted significant growth in mobile malware, particularly on Android. The report found that Android accounted for 79 percent of mobile threats, with just 0.7 percent attacking iOS,” Jordan Golson reports for MacRumors.
“Today, Schiller followed up, tweeting a link to Cisco’s 2014 Annual Security Report,” Golson reports. “The report, which came out late last week, notes that while overall vulnerabilities are highest since tracking began in 2000, 99 percent of all mobile malware targeted Android devices — leaving iOS devices relatively unscathed thanks to Apple’s controlling mobile ecosystem.”

If the pseudo press won’t relate to facts then it’s up to those of us who do and care to point them out. Right on Phil!
Someone should tell Schiller to stay off the Dunkin Donuts.
Right, because you are just hanging around being the model of restraint in carbohydrate consumption! (joke)
Ballmer on the MacBook Air – clueless in Seattle.
God he’s such a baffoon.
I don’t think in all the history of tech CEO’s there’s ever been as blowhardy, crude, bullying, clueless, buffoonish a CEO as Uncle Fester aka Ballmer T. Clown. He is shamelessly self-parodying and embarrassingly uncool. Too bad Chris Farley didn’t live long enough to do an imitation. The closest of his characters to Ballmer being Matt Foley, a “motivational speaker” living in a van down by the Redmond river.
Totally on target. Ballmer is the ultimate parody of himself, making all pretenders look foolish and pallid in comparison. It is the bald, unvarnished truth.
Android has big market share !
And the biggest malware share to go with it! In fact they OWN that space. Good on Google to suck up all of that malware evil to add to their own.
The malware probably makes them money
So? Winblows also has “big market share”.
Haven’t you read the 3,417 posts explaining that market share, as an isolated figure, is meaningless?
Android had the biggest malware share. Surprised clueless analysts are not touting this as one more way Android is killing iOS ! /s
At least naysayers can’t say it’s because of “security via obscurity” this time around.
Sure they can.
Some of the Fandroids are already saying Android has 90+% market share and iOS has fallen to less than 4% market share. The claim is that it’s Windows versus Mac OS all over again.
I’ve already heard the security through obscurity BS once. I expect to hear it again and again.
Wow. Thanks for the heads up… that church of Android seems on par with the Westboro Baptist Church now.
So glad my wife upgraded to an iPhone from an android phone. I was hoping we wouldn’t get hit by something while she had it, since she shops, banks, etc through her phone.
OMFrinkin’G how immature. First he de-friends Nest and now this.
Apple MUST fire Schiller, or its doomed… DOOMED I tells ya!
to riff off of a couple of other MDN headlines from the last couple of days.
Shut up, idiot!
Some woman let that craw on top of her and impregnate her. What a looker she must be. The kids are going to be dumb and ugly. Good combo.
This is dumb. It is totally just that there are no iPhones out there so no one wants to write something to kill them. Myth due to obscurity.
Not!
