Apple’s iOS destroys Android with five times higher online sales

Mobile sales also remained strong, approaching 29 percent of all online sales, up 40 percent over 2012.

• Smartphones Browse, Tablets Buy: Smartphones drove 28.5 percent of all online traffic compared to tablets at 18.1 percent, making it the browsing device of choice. When it comes to making the sale, tablets drove 19.4 percent of all online sales, more than twice that of smartphones, which accounted for 9.3 percent. Tablet users also averaged $95.61 per order, versus smartphone users, who averaged $85.11 per order.

  1. It is not necessarily a logical extension that more web traffic by cell phones mean that the cell phone is the preferred web surfing device. You use what you have, if you have to. There are a lot more cell phones than tablets or computers. There are also more Android devices. The fact that, even with more devices Android gets used less, and for smaller purchases should be a wake up call to a lot of you “analysts” out there and your particular “reality field”.

  2. But, but, market share, Market Share, MARKET SHARE!!!
Android is winning, iOS is dead in the water, right?

I suspect that in fact, iOS in fact, plays in a different market than the one Android plays in.

    1. We’ll see another article soon about how Android is kicking Apple’s ass in units sold. Funny how those articles never mention how iOS has the overwhelming share of internet use and online shopping. Because if they mentioned both of those statistics in the same article, they’d have to address what it means: that many Android devices aren’t used very much.

  3. I recently was forced into buying apple products(i pad) by my wife. Worst mistake I’ve made as a consumer. Granted I am not versed in apple products, however the user interface is counter intuitive and anything I can do easily with my android device (samsung galaxy III phone) is impossible or difficult on the Ipad.

I find it astonishing so many people prefer apple products. They are user-unfriendly, overpriced. There are apps for android that emulate iOS, so, if you desire, apple apps can be used on android. I’m sure the reverse is true, except, would Steve Jobs allow you to install that on his devices? After all, apple knows best, right, if they didn’t make it we don’t need it. Sheep.
