“Fortune is out today with its annual Businessperson of the Year list and this time around a couple notable Apple connections have made the list,” Jordan Kahn reports for 9to5Mac. “Coming in at #4 behind Elon Musk, activist investors, and Tencent CEO ‘Pony’ Ma Huateng, is Apple’s recently hired Head of Retail, Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts.”
“Another Apple executive has also once again made the Fortune Businessperson of the Year list this year,” Kahn reports. “CEO Tim Cook comes in at #47 this time, a drop down from his #2 position last year, with Fortune oddly stating, ‘Apple didn’t have a great year, but it remains the world’s most valuable company, and most other corporations would kill for its $171 billion in fiscal 2013 sales, up 9%.'”

I guess Fortune needs to define “great” and then give us examples of businesses who met that definition.
Musk is #4?
The guy has a space company that is delivering automated supplies to the International Space Station, has a company building the best electric cars in the world while suppling many traditional car companies components, a solar energy company that is electrifying rooftops all over the west.
Elon Musk is kicking ass in 3 different markets- simultaneously. That is unprecedented and he only gets #4?
Who has a company that can do this (not an animation)?
And why is he not on the Apple Board?

I don’t know why they gave this job to a woman. Serious men don’t do that.
Serious men look at stat sheets, you’re right. But they did that, and gender wasn’t one of the stats. Don’t try to tell us that the gender stat invalidates all the others.
The business world is for men. Women always fail when they’re promoted above their level of competence.

When women are promoted to high positions, it is always because they are women.
Women do not belong in positions of authority over men.
And a recent survey showed that most men and women alike prefer a male boss over a female one.
Women can be good secretaries and leave the big work to men, as it should be.
I have no interest in warring over the issue. I own you could be right, but I ask for evidence. Many industries sport female CEOs, particularly in fashion. In fact, Angela Ahrendts as CEO of Burberry has performed in an exemplary manner by all accounts. Why should she not see success as head of Apple retail?
You may not consider such an arrangement natural, but we live in different times. What would you think of a female president of the U.S.? Germany already has the equivalent, yet they are strong.
