Over 95% of custom apps developed by businesses are written for Apple iOS devices

“The latest report from Good Technology shows a slight gain sequentially for iOS, which accounted for 72 percent of devices activated in the quarter, with Android-based hardware making up most of the rest of the devices connecting to its server software,” Ina Fried reports for AllThingsD. “On the tablet side, iOS continues to account for nine in 10 device activations.”

“But, perhaps more importantly, more than 95 percent of custom apps developed by businesses are written for Apple devices,” Fried reports. “The number of such apps rose more than 42 percent from the prior quarter, as businesses start to incorporate devices more heavily into their workflow.”

  1. I think this proves those financial analysts are are clueless (as if we needed more proof); stuck on ancient ‘Crackberrys’ and using Windows, they think the whole world is following them as they still see themselves as ‘Masters of the Universe’. So ‘obviously’ the iPhone is failing and iPads are just toys as they are used by their wives to do the shopping. Marketshare is ‘King’. Financial analyst buffoons.

  2. But Microsoft is the leader is business devices and software. How can this be? I mean, they have those spiffy touch technology devices that should blow the competition out of the water. Don’t businesses see those awesome 55″ workstations on Fox News? Now what smart business man wouldn’t want those things running his company? Call me confused. I like Microsoft’s strategy, I like it a lot. Let’s start a petition to keep Steve “Monkey Boy” Ballmer on as CEO. By the by, I hear they’re going to tap Alan Mulally from Ford to replace Uncle Fester. Smart dude, I hear he has good social skills and isn’t very good at flinging chairs accross rooms. Let’s see if he has the requisite visionary and creative skills to run a successful tech company.

  3. Is a virus technically considered an App?
Are virus in-Apps also classified as such?

  4. Really? This can’t be correct. I don’t see the Microsoft Surface tablet that was developed for all those corporate Window users.

Well, at least the Windows phone got into the one chart. Is that 1 or 2 percent Microsoft. This is the final gasps of a giant iRoadKill.
