The retaliation begins: Google profiles get Schmidt-faced

“In a stunningly predictable decision, Google has decided to use your name and profile to bolster the blinding authenticity of its advertising,” Chris Matyszczyk reports for CNET. “Yes, without paying you. Well, this is the free economy, isn’t it? Oddly, some people seem stunned by this — despite the fact that the program largely resembles Facebook’s Sponsored Stories.”

“So, evidence of a small movement against Google’s ploy has emerged. It involves putting naked Photoshopped pictures of Google’s Larry Page, clutching a rose to his face, on everyone’s profile page,” Matyszczyk reports. “Well, that’s close. A tweet retweeted by Daring Fireball’s John Gruber suggests that some Google users are choosing to replace their own Google Profile picture with a shot of Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.”

Matyszczyk reports, “The idea is that very soon every single display ad on Google’s services will appear with a recommendation featuring Schmidt’s beatific features.”

Credit Bureaus don’t pay you for the use of your “personal” info, either ..
(and they make a fortune from it)

Guess Schmidt found himself a pretty good business model

  2. Can anyone explain to me why anyone in their right mind uses Google anything. They are the ultimate identity thieves and no one seems to give a shit. They would sell their mothers’ identities for an advertising dollar. They even steal identities of people emailing others on gmail, even if just responding and not gmail users. Everyone, including me, is outraged by NSA intrusions, but they are small time compared to Google. The irony of their motto is astounding.

    1. Google services are not free you are paying with your private data which google harvests. Google services are infact the most expensive services on the net private data is a very valued commodity and shady google want your data to make money from you.
