“Two weeks after the last Mavericks Developer Preview was pushed out, Apple on Thursday made the OS X 10.9 GM available to developers,” AppleInsider reports.
“This is the final version that will ultimately be released to the public when Apple launches the OS in the coming weeks,” AppleInsider reports. “Earlier in the day, the same build was seeded to AppleSeed members.”
AppleInsider reports, “Apple is rumored to be planning a release for OS X 10.9 Mavericks sometime in October, though an official date has yet to be nailed down.”

Anyone having beach ball spinning problems with 10.8.5 and iTunes 11.1.1? I’ve tried Repair Disk Permissions where I found page after page of iTunes repairs.
@ silverhawk1, I was listening to my collection last night when the software notification came up to update iTunes, I did and it cut off the playback when it removed the old software but when all was said and done, I reactivated iTunes and it carried on without a hitch.
My word for the day…..Marvelous!!! 🙂 with an elongated emphasis on the ‘ar’.
Seriously, try closing down everything so that you eliminate the possibility of a program running a conflict in the background.

I assume you did the upgrade via the App Store. If so, try downloading the Combo file for 10.8.5 and iTunes 11.1.1 from support.apple.com/downloads
I had the same issue with the 10.8.3 update and downloading the files resolved it. I suspect if you had some corrupted permissions, the some of the upgrade files would not install.
I’m old school, I always repair permissions before and after a update.
silverhawk1 I had this same problem and contacted Apple about it without resolving the problem. They just told me the update should cure it. I ran 10.8.5 combo update, the supplemental 10.8.5 update and then iTunes 11.1.1 and now the problems with audio and beach balls are gone. Also if you are running SRS iwow sound enhancer plug in, I was told it is no longer compatible with iTunes. Delete it or turn it off.

Would someone please tell us what iTunes 11.1 does better than iTunes 10?
Is it more responsive?
Has all the functionality of the prior version been restored?
Are any of the new features significantly more efficient?
The debate continues here in our camp. Some like the return of color and think “Up Next” is nice, but others hate how Apple shuffled everything around, preferring everything to be neatly stacked on the left bar. Also, the deletion of the multiple windows option is a huge step backward, and a lot of folks didn’t notice any speed increase whatsoever. What’s the verdict from you all?
iTunes Radio. It’s great!
Meh. Thanks but we enjoy our own music and already subscribe to several excellent podcasts to discover new tunes.
Those of us who lived through 4+ different recorded music formats already have digitized our extensive collections and no need to buy or rent/stream music from the new services.
Whether by Apple or another vendor, this group isn’t a fan of paying monthly to stream music somebody else selects for you — or, alternatively, enduring the ads which are the primary reason many people have abandoned terrestrial radio programming. One thing we have found that Apple does no better than anyone else in the industry is categorize music well, nor deliver a truly sublime playlist that encompasses a wide variety of styles.
We see iTunes Radio as a me-too feature to add to the growing bulk that is iTunes. I guess it depends on how much music one owns how much you think streaming is great. I think the next generation of Real Media clones (remember the Real Player?) is just another gimmick to get people to sign up for subscriptions.
What else you got? We want better performance, not more bloat.
I am looking foreward to Mavericks
1- The latest iTunes has issues. iTunes audio via the LED Cinema display on movies goes away after a second or two- maybe it has something to do with HDCP?
2- Wonder how many apps 10.9X will break? Since Apple shuttered AuthenTec after buying it, I hope the update does not kill my eikon fingerprint scanners.
