“A blog post from trade intelligence platform Panjiva — which Gigaom first spotted — reveals surfaced bills that show recent shipments sent to Apple from its supplier. Among the bills is one from Aug. 25 for a ‘set top box with communication function,’” Kelly reports. “Similar shipments were also billed on Aug. 11 and Aug. 18.”
Kelly reports, “The shipments could include an updated version of Apple TV or a new product related to the TV. With iOS 7 nearing its launch date, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Apple released a model that builds on the new features. Of course this could also just be a slightly updated Apple TV model… New AirPlay features are expected to come to iOS 7, including support for third-party game controllers. Moreover, OS X Mavericks will include using a monitor or TV set connected to an Apple TV as a separate monitor. An updated Apple TV with support for faster processor could make this sort of behavior even better.”
