Apple, SK Telecom to unveil speedy LTE-Advanced iPhone 5S, source says

“SK Telecom and Apple are expected to unveil an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) phone in the coming months,” Ellyne Phneah reports for ZDNet.

“An SK Telecom executive who declined to be named told The Korea Times on Monday the telco was approaching Apple to put its LTE-A technology on the upcoming iPhone 5S and ‘are in the middle of negotiations,'” Phneah reports. “The South Korean telco also said it planned to have as many as seven LTE-A devices by the end of the year.”

Phneah reports, “LTE-A allows users to download at speeds of up to 150 Mbps, twice as fast as LTE.”

    Has nothing to do with the phone company, Apple just puts the “world chip” from Qualcomm in the iPhone. Even takes care of China. 😛

  2. Super bogus.

    Apple would not be negotiating for components this close to launch.

    The final design was locked in months ago. Since then everything has been about satisfying purchase agreements and testing production lines/output/yields. And that’s before Foxconn takes delivery.

    This “unnamed” is just getting free publicity for SK’s product.
