In iOS 7, “you can access the Camera’s zoom controls while shooting video,” Christian Zibreg reports for iDownload Blog. “Think twice before dismissing this feature because real-time zooming during video capture allows for some interesting possibilities normally associated with camcorders.”
“I can easily imagine this being even more useful on a 12-megapixel camera with improved night shooting rumored to make its way inside the iPhone 5S,” Zibreg reports. “To use zoom during video capture, just set the Camera app to Video mode by swiping left or right. Upon hitting the big red red button to start recording, simply use the pinch gesture to zoom in and out during video capture. You can also tap-to-focus on your closeups as you’re shooting video.”
Zibreg reports, “If you’d like to take a still image during video capture, just hit the white button on the left.”

It’s about time! Now we need better night recording.

Strange rumour as those two features contradict each other. The more megapixels you have, the greater the noise is.
The only way to avoid that (besides small technical tricks) is to make sensor physically bigger, which is hard.
True, but noise reduction tech has come a long way…and it wouldn’t surprise me if apple went for larger sensors too.
iOS 7 sounds better with every day that goes by.

Thankfully, they do mention that in the article.
Most of iOS 7 looks really nice, but there still is some cleaning up to do. For example, the white circle that is shown in this article that takes a still shot during video shooting. How would anyone figure out that touching that UI element would take a still shot? Maybe a nice little camera icon to make it more clear? Hopefully these UI issues get fixed before it’s final release.
You do realise it’s a Dev preview, barely even a Beta?
There’s lots of work will be going on over the next few months, that’s why it’s been released to devs, for the feedback.
