Analyst: Apple ‘iTV’ with ‘mini iTV’ and ‘iRing’ motion controller to launch this year

“After meeting with Apple suppliers in a tour of China and Taiwan, one analyst now believes Apple will launch a television set this year with a new ring-shaped accessory that will allow a user to control the TV set by pointing their finger,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.

“Alleged details of Apple’s so-called ‘iTV’ were published in a research note by Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets provided to AppleInsider on Wednesday,” Hughes reports. “White believes that Apple will launch a full-blown television set in the later part of 2013 that promises to ‘revolutionize the TV experience forever.'”

Hughes reports, “The ‘iRing’ accessory described by White is a new concept that has not been previously detailed in other reports. His visits with Apple suppliers suggested the ring will act as a ‘navigation pointer’ for the television, and will allow the TV set to enhance motion detection and replace some of the functionality found in a remote. White also believes the ‘iTV’ will come with a ‘mini iTV’ screen that will allow users to view content on a smaller 9.7-inch display — the same diagonal screen size as a full-size iPad. He believes this secondary display could also be used for home security, phone calls, video conferencing and more.”

  1. You know what would be really great? If we as Apple lovers didn’t wish things into existence and then punish Apple for not reading our minds with their products. Wall Street can kiss my ass for such stupidity, probably the reason for Apple’s Stock decline as of late.

I’d love to hear about what they are working on… But let’s face it people, YOU DON”T FUCKING KNOW, so stop thinking you know what is coming out. Speculation is fun, but it’s getting out of hand. So let’s talk about the Mac Pro because we know it’s coming out soon! Tim said so 😉

    1. You can believe what an Apple product can do, and will look like – when someone from Apple is standing on a stage demoing one, and telling us what it can do, what it will cost and when it will be available. Until then it’s all BS.

  2. First time hearing about this ring. No doubt Samsung has a crack team piecing one together as we speak, ready to have it finished months after the iRing debuts so they can claim they were working on it for a long time now.

  3. An iRing? As if it wasn’t hard enough to lose the existing Apple TV remote. Can you imagine how easy it would be to lose an iRing?

Sorry, but this sounds like the lamest idea ever.

  4. How about Apple make iTunes good again. please. Give me back my money for Match #fail. Please forget @smart watches. Make our machines without glue so we can update them without having to buy new ones. planned obsolescense? Make OSX not into an iOS bastard child. Please Apple can you stay focused. I dont want some ring thatll get lost in my couch every time I take it off, of the dog eats. iRing or iDumb :facepalm

    Love,
a slowly more and more disappointed hardcore Apple patron since 93′
