“Consumers looking for Apple products or accessories can now find them at Staples, at least online,” Lance Whitney reports for CNET.
“The retailer is now officially stocking a variety of Apple items at its Web-based store,” Whitney reports. “Staples is offering accessories for the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Mac, including keyboards, mice, cases, covers, and cables. Larger and pricier items such as Time Capsules and Apple TVs are also available.”
Whitney reports, “The products will start to pop up in Staples’ retail stores as well. A salesperson at one Staples store told me that about half of the physical outlets will soon begin to stock various Apple items.”

Made it on his own? So it was with his own money that he went to the finest private institutions, including the Cranbook School, one of the most prestigious prep schools in the nation? Did Mittens manage to work his way through BYU, Stanford and Harvard Business all on his own with no help from the ‘rents? Spare me the nonsense. He had all the advantages of a privileged, preppy little brat, including the security in knowing that if he ever ventured out on his own and failed that daddy would be there to catch his fall (something most real risk takers don’t have). He’s George W. Bush with a higher IQ.

Staples are closer than many Apple Stores so it sounds like a good thing.
Staples is also the source of many small and large companies. This may help Apple products and devices dig deeper into companies. It will also help cut away more of the sales going to non-Apple products. It may also help some of the students in college that need a local place to get Apple products in their time of need. Which happens all the time.
When Best Buy goes Bye-Bye Staples can pick up the rest of the Apple product line.

I don’t think BestBuy can survive offering “everything to everyone”. I’ve tried to find a product @ BB, but the BB employees on the floor were more like used car salesmen than technically trained staff.

I have never found Staples to be a ‘go to’ place for anything but poor service by high school kids who pose as ‘sales people’. I used to scour the electronics section for bargains many years ago but found it was really a waste of time. I have used their photocopying services twice though. Maybe they can take over the photocopying for Samsung because they will have the Apple products and manuals right there in the store.
Staples have been selling Apple products in their stores here in Canada for months. They seem to have their own dedicated sales people.
I can’t see any advantage to Apple for this – just desperation and another lurch in trying to fix what’s wrong. This ain’t it. This will backfire as clueless sales kids can’t answer even the simplest question about how Apple’s products work. Want proof? I often drift over to the Apple area of Best Buy and listen to those numbskulls. Pitiful. Sometimes I help a seriously interested customer by volunteering correct answers. It sometimes pisses off the sales guy and sometimes they say thanks.
Yep, the Staples experience will be worse and Apple gets more bad buzz. Way to go, Tim. Way to go.
I got a Klipsch G-17 AirPlay speaker from them at a very good price. It’s a marvelous speaker for its size.
