Apple iPhone smashes Samsung

“Apple’s iPhone is NOT on the ropes as reported by so many newspaper articles,” Malcolm Manness reports for The Motley Fool.

“According to the latest Strategy Analytics statistics, not only did the iPhone 5 take first place in world wide smartphone sales, but the iPhone 4s – the one year old model – took second place, beating out the much touted Samsung Galaxy S3, which came in third,” Manness reports. “The Samsung model runs Google’s Android operating system.”

Manness reports, “The iPhone remains the most popular smartphone on the market. Perhaps investors should be wary of the anti-hype that frequently surrounds Apple. True, there is reason for serious concern over margins, as this affects the bottom line. The rumors of Apple’s demise, however, seem to be a bit overdone.”

      1. awww maaaaan…now i gotta INSTANTLY stop liking my Android phone for no reason and go out and buy a phone I used to have and like until I looked over the brick and mortar of the walled garden narrowly avoiding decapitation by the Apple walled garden overlord. Anyone got an iPhone 4S to sell and a pair glasses and a set of girly-hands so that i may enjoy the experience of my new 2 year-old phone?

        1. im convinced these fuckers are just fanboys and queers who think that having a iPhone makes you cool smh, they bash people who try out other phones after having to look at almost the same fucking home screen after 6 years, i’ve had i iphone from the start and truth is the shit is getting old and boring

        1. well it cost me $200 to switch to the Galaxy so I was still in the hole for $$. Any moron can spec a gadget on gazelle. I gots nuthin’ to prove to you superior iPhonies

  1. Bottom feeders are already on the bottom line! What do they care about Apple inc.? They don’t!! What they do care about though is to grag Apple inc. to the bottom so they can continue bottom feeding. In conclusion, Anal ysts!!!

  2. We are all surrounded by BS. Politics, business, tabloid journalism, reality TV. Embarrassing, and disillusioning, too. Most people on the internet sound like they’re either in middle school or brain-damaged. Too biggest complaints about Apple- they’re no longer cool and on their way out, or they’ve got way too much money. Meanwhile everyone else is “beleaguered!” Except Google- who’s the New Evil.

      1. No actually. The US has become the country that taught the world how to corrupt capitalism into a form of parasitism. It’s not ‘success’ that’s typically being vilified. It’s bad bizness that is suitably being vilified.

Then the bad biznizzez get all pissed off that their mask fell off, so they have a tantrum, stamp their little feet and turn on the seriously great capitalist companies such as, of course, Apple.

IOW: It is bad biznizzez that have invented the vilification of Apple. They want Apple as FSCKed up as they are. Apple makes biznizz bozos look bad, as it damned well should. 😕

  3. Good job, Apple.

That being said, the context would be better if total iPhone sales were compared to total Android phone sales. Much as I wish Apple has built an insurmountable lead, I don’t think Android is going away.

  4. analyst are paid to make comments. If the analyst is boring, does not rock the boat he will not progress in his business of selling, papers, mags, clicks on adverts etc. Nor will his sponsors make money on the stock market. (he may actually be the manager of a fund)

  5. analyst are paid to make comments. If the analyst is boring, does not rock the boat he will not progress in his business of selling, papers, mags, clicks on adverts etc. Nor will his sponsors make money on the stock market. (he may actually be the manager of a fund) I have not said this before…

  6. Good job apple, but people act like your not suppose to have a preference in phones lol samsung to me have the best android phones and accept it or not samsung is apple’s closest competition, not to mention android had to catch up with fluidly and still has to with apps apple is playing catch up with features, well i shouldn’t say playing catch up I believe apple rolls out features slowly simply because they can, but if you like iPhones cool if you like samsung cool, I think the note 2 is a better phone when it comes to my preferences so I’m gonna check it out….. iOS and Android are both dominating

    1. Gee you kinda sound like Chris Pirillo alway riding the fence. Liking other smart phones IS fine as long as a person can make good reasonable logical arguments for their choice not just saying “Apple sucks”

However Samsung phones are never a better choice. Samsung is a dirty, unethical and unimaginative company that ONLY has its success through “copying” and “scamming” which is and has been the common tactics in Korean corporations since their founding.

      1. you may be right but when I checked the phone out I really liked it so I wanna try it out I can return it in 30 days had to make sure, trust me I love everything apple I have a iphone, ipad and mbp I want in the lines but I want a bigger feature packed phone….all I’m saying is that I dont understand the bashing between the 2 phone users at the end of the day they are just phones and we are just consumers wtf are we having a pissing match over what phone we have? lol

  7. Well tells more about the buyers than about which phone sells most.
If buyers are willing to pay 5 times the production cost of the low tech iPhones then they are just stupid.
If buyers of Android are paying 2 times the prodution cost of the high tech Android phones then they get more for their money.

The result will always be that the PR people at Apple will choose the statistics which suit them best.
Actually NOKIA are selling more phones than Apple, they are just not “smartphones” but “featurephones”. Very capable of browsing, reading emails, playing games, taking photos, posting to facebook and twitter. Only difference is that they might have a keyboard and a smaller screen, the battery lasts for a week and you can drop them without breaking them.

Now which consumers are the smartest?
Those who pay way too much for low tech low quality?
Those who pay a fair price for high tech?
or Those who pay a fair low price for good performing tech with high quality?
