Five reasons Apple is doomed, doomed, doomed!

“You don’t have to turn the dial too far in order to find somebody singing the death knell for Apple [AAPL] and here’s five reasons they’re singing those shanties,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld.

• Apple is losing to Android: Marketshare based on sales figures should be a big indicator of platform popularity. The ascendancy of Android tablets and smartphones suggests that there should be lots of people using those devices. They will be buying apps, browsing the Web and ads networks should be seeing heavy traffic from the dominant OS. Except that’s not what’s happening…

• Apple has no place in the enterprise: Apple’s position in the enterprise has always been weak, and the debut of Win 8 PCs and Surface tablets should surely have wiped away all Apple’s gains in the sector. Except this isn’t what happened.

• Apple is “too controlling”

• Apple has run out of ideas

• Apple isn’t focused on developing markets: It seems likely Apple will rue its lack of focus on developing markets, particularly China, a nation with which Apple’s main foe, Google, has such excellent relationships.

  1. Seems to me that the article might have made its satire a bit more transparent. As it read for me, it just sounded like the average Apple hater idiot.
Perhaps he should study the works of the Macalope, and introduce some coffee-spitting lines.

      1. You’re an IDIOT like the rest that didn’t bother to even read the full article.

It’s clear you didn’t read it as like the other fools that posted with worthless comments, In your Laziness like the rest of the idiots all you did was read the Headline and didn’t bother to go and read the Complete Article.

This Article, For all you STUPID BONEHEADS is Pro Apple, Evans is Making fun of all the Doom And Gloom others say about Apple, And it just takes a 6th grade level of reading comprehension to see what its all about.

To many people Jump to conclusions, Why can’t most users Comprehend, its alarming most of these Jump and post readers need to go back and get re-educated.

I really doubt that Stupid can be fixed! To much of it on the internet and it proves that you can never take what you read as truth unless you confirm and reconfirm over, Laziness wins out with Stupid every time as we see by the posts to the article that wasn’t read nor understood.

        1. HAHAHAHA! Say hello to my stalker everyone. I think he just had an aneurism in public. I don’t think I need explain my added reply to myself as also being a form of humor, which my stalker did not get. He never gets the obvious. But he is so cute and cuddly! And he gives the best virtual s*x over the telephone. 😉

  2. Hi Jonny,
Thanks for the good article, taking a poke at the misinformation that circulates about Apple.

I’ve recently started a blog addressing online misinformation — which you can find by attaching .com to the name above — so the reaction to your post here is certainly food for thought.

re: the google search bots. Perhaps one day Duck Duck Go and the like will have enough numbers to be of some help. People could be moved to go to them for privacy and find themselves benefiting from more balanced searches, too.

  3. In the good ole’ days of yore, MDN used to do a great summary of an article. They hit the main points, clearly and concisely. That was a much appreciated service and function, since most of us don’t get paid to sit all day and scour the web for Apple news.

Now, except for the take, MDN isn’t worth much since most of their summaries are flame bait, saying basically someone somewhere said something about x…. click here to read the article.

The quotes and summaries often have little to do with the context and gist of the real article, and their altered and exaggerated do little to accurately represent the article

  4. A beautiful article that pokes fun at all the FUD writers.. Well written and riddled with crazy sarcasm… Kudos.

Now for the ppl that jumped to conclusions about it: you’re as bad as the morons that speculate and drive the stock down in a manipulative manner

  5. Nothing new here. Evans provides a tongue in cheek piece that is hardly satire, more of a light hearted send up, if you think it’s satire then you haven’t read much literature.

I can’t believe that someone could read the section provided by MDN and not comprehend the angle, however to misunderstand the whole article is scary.

As usual a lot of MDN readers shot from the hip, killed, no questions asked, and therefore are as guilty as the media they read (or have not in this case) and complain about.

  6. But everyone must admit that each of the points in the article has a grain of truth, i.e. not totally off the wall. Apple’s health requires continued vigilance. Apple is not bulletproof in any of the areas named by the article.

Take for example, Apple’s refusal for 6 years to offer an anti-glare screen for desktop iMac and Cinema Display hardware. That is a decision to focus on consumers. Stuff the professional market. That’s fine while the consumers think Apple is cool, but people like MDM readers can turn on Apple like a pack of hyenas in an instant if things change. Apple needs to broaden its user base by catering to other segments, apart from the cool kids, and ensure that their business is aimed to be around for many decades to come – rather than just the decade when everyone thinks Apple is cool.

Remember – and you people seem to forget – there was a time when it was hip to have a Blackberry. Think, McFly, think. People who assume it can’t happen to Apple aren’t CEO material.

  7. What a lot of absolute BS. We could all think of hundreds of reasons Microsoft is doomed! How about terrible, buggy, insecure Windows that most of the developed world has had to endure for the past 25 years?
