Leaked SKUs show Apple prepping release of 128GB ‘ULTIMATE’ iPad

“We’ve gotten word from sources that Apple is preparing to release (in some fashion) a single, additional iPad model,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac. “This would be a new SKU for the current fourth-generation iPad with Retina display line.”

“With developers finding code in the soon-to-be-released iOS 6.1 that points to 128GB iOS devices, and with recent findings of 128GB references in Apple’s recent iTunes 11 release, speculation naturally points to Apple releasing a 128GB iPad in the very near future,” Gurman reports. “The pricing is in line with a higher storage capacity, coming in at around $799 for the WiFi-only model and $929 for the Cellular-compatible model in the United States.”

Gurman reports, “Apple is preparing to release the additional ‘ULTIMATE’ model. ‘ULTIMATE’ frequently refers to the most premium or highest capacity model available.”

  1. Who cares? As an investor I’m interested in revenue growth. I know from 8 years experience that Apple routinely introduces new models, either refinements of existing products, or category creating products.

From that same experience I know that over the course of the next several years, Apple is going to introduce several such ‘new’, refreshed products.

This isn’t news, so who cares?

iOS 6.1 was released TODAY. It has 28 security patches, some of which are critical. My update went well.

The word “ULTIMATE” is poorly chosen. But 128 GB sounds like a great upgrade for iOS power users.

    1. I’m with you, but I can’t believe everyone is not a poweruser. I swear, I max out 64 gigs in a few weeks. it really doesn’t take much, everyone WANTS to carry music and MOST of their pictures and video. That’s the point! why not? I need 128 gigs. MORE. THIN does nothing for me. If 128g was in the current Ipad and Iphone, I’d of bought one early.
How about Stereo speakers.. there’s a no-brainer. PHONE?
