“Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to inspect a supposedly accurate — and seriously intriguing — physical model of the completely redesigned fifth-generation iPad,” Jeremy Horwitz reports for iLounge. “What does it look like? Well, it’s a lot smaller than one would guess was possible: in portrait orientation, picture a 9.7” screen with virtually no left or right bezels, and only enough space above and below the screen to accommodate the mandatory camera and Home Button elements. Beyond that, it’s noticeably thinner, as well, which is to say the the fifth-generation iPad will be smaller in every dimension than its predecessors. As it will have the same chamfered edges and curves, calling it a ‘stretched iPad mini’ is very close to entirely accurate.”
“The changes are so considerable that a new screen technology, such as IGZO, seems like a given,” Horwitz reports. “As of now, we’re hearing October [release], give or take a couple of weeks. This part is pure speculation, but we’re guessing that the screens and processors are going to be hard to come by for a while.”
Horwitz reports, “The iPhone 5S will apparently look very much like the iPhone 5, but with a larger rear flash, and is indeed coming this year. Also planned for a 2013 release is Apple’s ‘low-cost’ plastic-bodied iPhone, which is being developed with China Mobile in mind… Addressing the so-called ‘iPhone Math’ — hinted by one source as a mistranslation of ‘iPhone +’ —we’ve been told that this is another new model and in early prototyping stages, certainly not expected in 2013. It supposedly has a 4.7” screen ”

I am really excited about a redesigned iPad. I still like the original iPad design better than the latest iPad designs. I hope the new iPad looks just like the iPad mini but with no bezel, 9.7″, and just as thin if not thinner than the mini.

Just yesterday TC said (in so many words), don’t believe the rumor sites, if perchance they got something right they were just lucky.
Amazing that so many ignore the one person that knows, and are so willing to believe those with no history of being ever right.
Steve Jobs said the exact same thing about a smaller iPad during a conference call with financial analysts after they released their quarterly earnings – that Apple would never, ever manufacture a smaller 7″ iPad.
And today, we have the iPad mini. Never discount market trends. If it’s logical & profitable for Apple to release a bigger iPhone they will.
Not to mention iTunes on Windows, two button mice, iPod Video, Intel processors, and book downloads.
It makes sense. Apple has been working toward system-on-a-chip technology, and combined with better screen technology, the bezels become purely decorative — and thus gone. The SOAC gives me visions of cavernous emptiness inside the case.
Does this mean Apple stock won’t be selling at $1,000 a share by September?
I’m waiting for the iPhone Math, that’s for sure. I can’t see anything compelling about an iPhone 5S that is merely a small incremental upgrade from an iPhone 5.
The iPad and iPad mini will always hold a special place in my heart.
The iPhone is simply too expensive for what it does. I’ll probably get the iPhone 5 which will be $100 cheaper when the 5S is released and wait for the 6 or iPhone Math.

Sorry, it’s all the rumor mongers could dream up. If they had any imagination they would be working for Apple, and thus, not disclosing what’s REALLY being worked on.
Apple has quite a track record for revealing prototypes of forthcoming products to bloggers nine months ahead of the launch date.

No idea about the plastic iPhone, but the iPad 5 is a no brainer in every respect. Of course apple will make it lighter and thinner… duh, that’s what they do.
It’s this constant rumor mill that screws up Apple sales.
People will buy whatever they want, when they want. For instance I didn’t wait for the iPad 4 but bought an iPad 3 when it was released because it suited me for what I want at the time it came out. Same thing with the iPad mini.
You’d be forever waiting for the new thing in tech if you didn’t buy what you wanted now.
Yeah, but you’re a tech savvy person. You know that the device you buy today will do what you purchased it for a year from now even if newer devices emerge. Most people are terribly worried that the device they buy is somehow made obsolete by new devices. They want to have the newest. It’s particularly bad with people who buy Apple stuff, the whole “fashion” aspect of the thing.
Apple could kill any rumor, defuse any speculation, and crush any lie. However, Apple chooses not too. Apple has decided to live with this outrageous behavior and do nothing to confront it. Why don’t you try to rationalize that?
