Apple adds subscription TV and movie service Watchever app to Apple TV in Germany

“Apple has added a rare new app and service to the Apple TV, this time in Germany,” Matthew Panzarino reports for The Next Web.

“Essentially a German version of Hulu launched by Vivendi this month, it offers local, European and international movies and TV series for €8.99 a month,” Panzarino reports. “Key features include the ability to choose between a German dubbed version of international movies, or the original. There is also a personal recommendation algorithm à la Netflix.”

Panzarino reports, “This marks the first time that Apple has added an international-specific service. and the first time that the service is available in only one region.”

    1. Problem is, Lovefilm is aligned with Amazon, Apple’s main competitor in digital media. I doubt we’ll see it on Apple TV. At least they have an iPad app. If they’d enable AirPlay video streaming that would be fine.

  1. Currently I see Roku tops Apple TV in terms of available content providers. Perhaps Apple is entertaining the thought of adding apps (or channels) to a new Apple TV soon? Would they wait to introduce such an upgrade to coincide with their highly speculated TV’s?

    We need an asshole analyst to help straighten this one out.
