“According to a report out last week from Toni Sacconaghi, a Bernstein Research analyst,” JP Mangalindan reports for Fortune, “while Apple already has a fervent following, it technically lacks the ‘high customer repurchase intention”‘ associated with brands of this type, like Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Saks.”
Mangalindan reports, “That’s changing quickly. A consumer survey also conducted by Bernstein Research seems to back that up: 95% of current iPhone users in Europe and North America plan on repurchasing an iPhone now, and 85% of iPad customers plan on repurchasing another iPad some time down the line as well. As the hyper-growth company of the last five years, largely propelled by the iPhone and iPad lines, less than 50% of Apple’s actual profits currently come from repeat customers, but given those survey results, the inflection point should arrive some time in 2015.”

MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s stickiness makes the fine folks at Crazy Glue blush.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Dan K.” for the heads up.]
Hard to think about repurchasing a product that already feels perfect
Perfect? Not hardly. My iPhone doesn’t even have a terabyte of storage yet!

Where is the “like” button? I love my iPhone but I would really like much more than 64 GB. I hate having to pick a subset of my music to take with me. Forget about videos.
This has always been my most wanted feature… more storage. The technology is there for 128GB (and has been for some time). It’s just a matter of making it an option. I’d pay a lot more for that option.
Getting warmer…. :)~ 256! baby.
iTunes Match solves the storage problem.
Plus I’m in the UK on the Three network with unlimited data.
Of course.. There are only two phones out there, iphone & blackberry (nothing beat their bb messenger).. others are fakes.
Blackberry? Kurt, is your last name Van Winkle? The year is 2013 if your wondering.
“….95% of Apple iPhone users say they will stick with Apple iPhone……”
Of course they’ll stick with Apple !! …
as …..
THIS story will attest !
On the other hand, Nikes suck. The first pair I bought fell apart quickly. There was no second pair.
Maybe that’s what Sacconaghi means by ‘high customer repurchase intention‘.
Once you discover Apple, as I did in 1991, it is tough to turn back …. And when you finally do have to use a PC you quickly come to appreciate the “build” of an Apple product …..
Flat out if you ever go into business focus on two things and two things only and those two things are service and quality …… Price is about the 6th or 7th reason people buy a particular product or service …. Quality and Service are considered before price …. Never sell on price, never unless you have some idea figured out where you can get others to take a low cut and you make margins on HUGE volume much like WalMart and Amazon does …..
The other 5% of iPhone users are tired of their iPhones getting scratched when they hold them while walking and dragging their knuckles.
Actually, the other 5% are either really old or really sick and won’t be around to buy the next version.
I like your thought, and I’m going to stick around a few more years too
Unfortunately I’m both of those. But I’ve got a 4S now and for sure will be getting the next iteration. I won’t kick old age but I’m going to kick cancer.
Good for you. Kick cancer’s ass silverhawk1!
Been there, done that. Keep fighting. What kind of cancer?
We disagree on most things…but here’s hoping you kick that cancer.
Here’s hoping you win your battle silverhawk1, stay strong brother. X
I’ll stick with my iPhone 5 for awhile. I love it.
Yep
Helped my father in law pick out a galaxy s3 yesterday
Nice phone but I like my iPhone 5 better
You hate your FIL that much?
Friend’s don’t let friend’s buy droid!
How sad for you. What does your wife say about you treatment of her dad?
So I am 95%ers that work hard them spend money and free time waiting in line for high quality Apple products, especially the iPhones. Yes I am a slave to Apple products, can anyone help me? I would some day like to have the courage become that 5% and buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 or Note 3 if size matters. Just kidding iPhone 5s all the way no Samdung for me.
i like my iPhone 5 but the second Apple releases the next version and it ends up having 128GB and NFC my wife is getting my 5. I like having the latest and greatest Apple toys
My wife doesn’t want my 5. She loves her 4S. Maybe she’ll want the 6.
Same here! Went from the 4 to the 5. Very light phone.
My wife slaps me silly and takes it away from me and keeps it for herself. Gosh I love her.
When you already own the best technology on the market, then why would you ever consider the purchase of ‘mediocrity’?
Kick the cancer brother! Golden wings!
… currently come from repeat customers”
of course!
because more than 50% are NEW customers.
that stat doesn’t relate to RETENTION rate of old customers at all.
Kick that cancer. I will pray for you. Sent from my iPhone 5.
