A newly published Apple Support document addresses the issue of iOS 6’s Do Not Disturb mode staying on past its scheduled end time. This issue arose on January 1, 2013.
Apple’s document states: Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off. To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.
Apple’s brief document in full is here.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews readers too numerous to mention individually for the heads up.]
Ah it wasn’t just me! I turned it off yesterday.
Things like this amaze me – how complex coding must for something to work flawlessly except for a narrow date range. I am surprised it wasn’t picked up though, surely 1/1 any year would be an obvious testing target?
Takes a lickin’ but don’t keep on tickin’.
It’s a feature. You’re not setting it right.
Ahahahah!!! Ahahahahaha!!!!
Feel better now? So much pain…pent up inside. Let it all out. Thats right….pity its just a no issue issue.
Hero….hmmmm korean are we???
Maybe Hero is a sandwich. In the interim, why is it a bug that the Do Not Disturb feature stays on. I’d leave it on forever if I could.
At least people aren’t dying in Australia!
…and the hits just keep on coming. Media and tech commentators will cite this as just another piece of evidence proving Apple is no longer what it once was. Stuff like this happens with MSoft, Google, Samsung, etc., etc., but NOT Apple. Right?
I thought something was odd today when I noticed mine was still on. I have it set to come on at 10 pm and go off at 7 am. I looked at my phone at 9 this morning and manually turned it off. Glad it’s not just me.
So, three nights last week I got disturbed at 2 AM with a ring that ended after 2 beats. Then I get the suggestion to Do Not Disturb by clicking this message.
The fact that I got up to go to work at 4AM seems to be irrelevant here. The fact that I lost 6 hrs of sleep is irrelevant.
It is a good thing I have Apple to thank that I have had almost 28 years of good, almost flaw free, Mac computing. If I had been using Windows, I would be talking lawsuit with my Lawyers right now, if I had Lawyers.
So, Do Not Disturb until Jan 7th … got it. The one and seven look similar in the SDK default font. So sue me! Software working as designed.
Had to manually turn mine off today. Why oh why
And they ran a new commercial touting it. Doh!
Its a relief that everyone else is facing this problem, not just me. How much has Scott forstall screwed up iOS? Apple still cant their iOS issue fixed. Looks like the most advanced mobile operating system that was 5 years ahead has started doing catch up by going backwards.. It is actually funny that such a simple feature was not done right. I guess time to forgive Apple for their Apple maps fiasco.. Hilarious.
OH MY GOD HOW WILL APPLE EVER LIVE THIS DOWN IT’S ALL OVER SELL YOUR STOCK AND SMASH YOUR PHONE!
Thanks for this. Now I know why my phone wasn’t ringing! I thought it was me.
Apple’s Do Not Disturb ad is one of their better ones.

Just as I was starting to enjoy the peace and quiet …
So basically Apple couldn’t be bothered and leaves it users to wait…well done CrApple.
