“Taiwan’s United Daily News (via Brightwire) claims that Hon Hai Precision Industries and Flexium Interconnect will keep certain production lines open during the Chinese New Year to keep up with demand for Apple’s newest iDevices,” Mikey Campbell reports for AppleInsider.
“For 2013, China’s most important holiday will start on Feb. 10,” Campbell reports. “A move to keep production facilities online during the holiday would be an indication that supply is just barely meeting demand, as evidenced by the U.S. Apple Online Store’s one-week wait time for all iPad mini models.”

Other people including police, fire, people working for hospitals, Knott’s, Disneyland, and people like me who work for newspapers also have to work during New Years, Christmas, and every other holiday.
Then there’s Walmart . . . 😉
New Years in China is a very big deal. It is the time when all the migrant laborers, like those who moved to the cities to work in the Foxconn factories, return to their home towns to visit with families. The whole country all but shuts down for this period. To keep the factories open and the employees from leaving is a MAJOR event. Will also cost them a lot in bonus money, above and beyond the traditional “13th month” payments usually made at this time of the year. A “14th month” maybe?
