HI, Somebody forget to include the word “smaller” as it was in the macrumors article regarding the measurements of the 5th gen iPad .
“Source said the design of this new iPad will be similar to iPad mini, i.e. lightweight and thinner (4mm in height, 17mm in width, depth 2mm” SMALLER).

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I certainly wouldn’t mind anything lighter or thinner, as long as it holds up durability-wise. (I’m planning on getting a 27-in. iMac myself, soon.) I was just poking fun at their ill-informed dimensions. I think you’ll agree that anyone saying that Apple’s next iPad will measure less than 1 in. x 1 in. needs to check their math.

Lighter and thinner is great sometimes. I don’t need my iPhone (4S) to be thinner. Actually my 2G iPhone was the most comfortable to hold. With or without a case. My 4th gen iPod is too thin. My iPad (3rd gen) is ok but thinner might be nice. I purchased a 27 inch iMac as a present and it was delivered Monday. I’m sitting in front of it now and it’s beautiful. But so is my 27 inch iMac that I bought last December. It still looks fantastic. And it holds the Super Drive that I use. Had to order a separate optical for the new iMac. Last years iMac isn’t as thin but who cares if its thin? Not me. They are both great. I hope the lamination holds up on the newer model. So I’m all for thin if it is for a purpose. I guess I’m just a practical guy.

True, it’s best to ignore rumors. I’d love an iPad now (full-size, for art and music creation)… but only two months away?…. If the mini gets retina, they have to make sure the maxi isn’t cannibalized…

Every speculative rumor on new Apple devices is nothing more than competitors and WS planting stories trying to influence consumers not to buy now but wait till next generation. IE. IPhone 5S due soon don’t buy an IPhone 5, Ipad mini and new Ipad coming soon don’t buy the IPad or mini now. It’s all just noise.

Mini with retina vs slimmed down and more powerful full sized iPad.

This tells me that the mini won’t necessarily cannibalize the full size

Does anyone else realize the 2048 x 1546 resolution on the 7.9″ ipad mini is greater the. 326ppi that this article is saying?

I was going to do every other generation iPad, I had the 1st and now I have 3rd. Instead I’m going to buy just every two years based on whatever generation is just available for preorder. Buying my next iPad in 2014.
