“The sources have yet to specify whether the device will use Apple’s Retina Display technology to enhanced resolution,” Ho and Wolfgram report, “but market observers said it is highly likely based on the development of past Apple products.”
Ho and Wolfgram report, “If the iPad mini uses Apple’s current Retina Display technology, it will have a 2058 by 1536 resolution and 326ppi.”

Yeah, but MDN copied and pasted the [ahem] “news”, thus they also reported the “news”.
A really good journalist aggregator would see a story that reads, “Flash! Apple is currently working on a more updated iPad mini” and pass on it to find something with a little more meat.
But, then again, we all clicked, read, and commented, so… “mission accomplished?”
Samsung must be scared shitless to try to stop the iPad mini sales with this bullshit.
I love Apple but the way the string out these features really annoys me. They could have easily included the retina display in the original iPad Mini….
Wouldn’t the resolution be higher than 326ppi because the screen is 2″ smaller?
Retina iPad ppi is 264. I think if they take the mini to the same ppi as the iPhone and iPod they’ll have to do the same for the 9.7″ iPad.
I think next year the larger iPad gets more points like the iPhone did this year. Apple started implementing auto layout tools in Xcode a few years ago, and the larger iPad is going to have to become another size target.
If not when the mini becomes the standard for app development and touch targets are readjusted, all of those apps are going to seem blown up and a little silly on the 9.7″ iPad. Maybe iPad Pro?
