“Before there ever was a Project Glass from Google, there was Apple’s Glass Project in the form of a patent application filed in late 2006, published in 2008 and granted in 2009,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“Apple’s Glass Project seemed to have fallen off the grid until July 2012 when a new patent application laid out some new parameters for their future glasses. The new glasses were being designed to work with augmented reality but more importantly, they were being designed with telephonic capabilities in mind,” Purcher reports. “In one of the new patent reports that we posted yesterday, we pointed to Apple describing future video glasses that would integrate hidden audio sensors within the glass or frame to enhance voice commands capabilities.”
Purcher reports, “Little did we know that the best data was yet to come. Late last night, Patently Apple discovered a powerful new patent application that details some rather interesting features that Apple is considering for a future headset. Perhaps that Glass War that we described last month is going to be a lot more interesting than we initially thought… After drilling down further into the patent filing, there it was – true insights into Apple’s secret Glass Project. The project appears to have been secret enough that only one Apple executive is noted as being the inventor. His name is Christopher Sanders, Apple’s current Design Lead.”

you can file a patent for anything but google actually did something. If apple sues google over this its just another turn off for potential customers.
Yea-those customers are fleeing from Apple products in droves! The idea that a company would aggressively defend their intellectual property seems to really be turning them off.

Besides, I was shopping the other day and checked out their Galaxy 3. The color was so off that it was a laugh. Compared to the Retina display, there’s absolutely no comparison. Samsung is winning with “free” sign ons with phone carriers. Who won’t choose free. It doesn’t mean it’s better. Samsung is crap and they remain a COPYCAT designer no matter what the stupid UK court thinks.
What? So you think they have to show the product or technologies in public to be considered “actually doing something”? That makes no sense.
This is part of the problem with the all mighty google. They slap some crap together and show it off and think that is all it takes for the product/technology to be theirs, no matter how long someone else has been working on it. Can’t wait for the day this bites them in the ass.

Apple should go into search and rip the heart out that stealing organisation. One things for sure if Steve was alive google would have been ruined.
So, smartass, how do you know that there aren’t working prototypes being used all around the Apple campus. Answer: you don’t. You have no idea at all what Apple have been playing with, but just because Google have a physical object that is vaguely similar, you seem to think Google were first with a working device.
You seem to have forgotten that a senior Google director was on Apple’s Board around this time, so it’s entirely likely that Google got the idea in the same way they got the idea for a revamped Android OS.
I hope that Apple will kick Google’s Ass in the emerging wearable computer market with cooler, smarter designs.
I’m sure that Samsung is chomping at the bit to get ahead of Apple on the innovation front with Project Glass spinoffs. I hope that Apple makes them choke on it with a better headset.

Being able to get my email to show up in one of the lenses with a simple touch of the glasses frame will be to die for. Simple, discreet, cool.

All Apple has to do is to do is start the rumor mill that they’re going ot have smart glasses before Google’s product hits the market and 80% of consumers in North America will wait for Apple’s version. It’ll be that simple.
