Light blue? That sounds like OSX is trying to load but not getting very far. Probably a hard disk issue, which would also tie in with the previous user wiping their data off it before selling on. For a five year old computer it’s not exactly surprising IMO.

If he has a recovery disk get him to boot off it and do a disk repair, but even if that works he ought to get the hard disk replaced.

Wish I could say the same of my friends. One finally bought a used mid 2007 iMac, but no sooner did he buy it and used it for a few days when it suddenly just shows a blueish screen when you start it and thats it. Does not help that I have been telling him how reliable macs for years, when this happens.

Phil Schiller said that the 21.5-inch iMacs would be available Novemer 2012 and they are….the last day of November. Thus one can expect the new Mac Pros anytime from 01 January 2013 through 31 December 2013.

Definitely getting the new iMac. As usual, there is already a waiting line for my hand-me-down. In the past I used those to convert windoze users, but nobody among my friends and extended family does pc anymore.
