Apple today announced the all-new iMac will be available on Friday, November 30. Featuring a stunning design, brilliant display with reduced reflection, faster processors and an innovative new storage option called Fusion Drive, the new iMac is the most advanced desktop Apple has ever made. The 21.5-inch iMac will be available through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. The 27-inch iMac will be available for order through the Apple Online Store and will begin shipping in December.
Redesigned from the inside out, the new iMac packs high performance technology into an aluminum and glass enclosure that measures just 5 mm thin at its edge and features a reengineered display that reduces reflection by 75 percent. The new iMac includes 8GB of 1600 MHz memory, a 1TB hard drive, third generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processors that can be upgraded to Core i7, and the latest NVIDIA GeForce graphics processors that deliver up to 60 percent faster performance. Fusion Drive is an innovative new storage option that gives customers the performance of flash and the capacity of a hard drive by combining 128GB of flash with a standard hard drive to create a single storage volume that intelligently manages files to optimize read and write performance.

Phil Schiller said that the 21.5-inch iMacs would be available Novemer 2012 and they are….the last day of November. Thus one can expect the new Mac Pros anytime from 01 January 2013 through 31 December 2013.
Well, it will be November, like they said. Good thing I’m not surprised. And, I’ve already got December 31st marked as order date for he 27″. 😀
I hope it’s Dec. 31, because I need a paycheck or 2 to recover from Christmas bills. I won’t have to suffer with that left out feeling if it doesn’t come out until late Dec.
Finally. Boy, could they have sold some of those last Friday! Too bad they weren’t available for the last month, that could have really helped the stock price. But better late than never. I’ll be ordering the instant I can. A nice 27 inch beauty.
Definitely getting the new iMac. As usual, there is already a waiting line for my hand-me-down. In the past I used those to convert windoze users, but nobody among my friends and extended family does pc anymore.
Wish I could say the same of my friends. One finally bought a used mid 2007 iMac, but no sooner did he buy it and used it for a few days when it suddenly just shows a blueish screen when you start it and thats it. Does not help that I have been telling him how reliable macs for years, when this happens.
Does he have recovery disks?
Light blue? That sounds like OSX is trying to load but not getting very far. Probably a hard disk issue, which would also tie in with the previous user wiping their data off it before selling on. For a five year old computer it’s not exactly surprising IMO.
If he has a recovery disk get him to boot off it and do a disk repair, but even if that works he ought to get the hard disk replaced.
