“Wondering what to get your kids for Christmas or Hannukah this year? Wonder no more,” Dorothy Pomerantz reports for Forbes. “They want iPads.”
“According to a survey by Nielsen, 48% of kids 6 to 12 say they want iPads this holiday season,” Pomerantz reports. “And we’re not even talking iPad Minis here, these kids want the full-sized deal for $500. Only 36% of the kids surveyed said they’d prefer the $329 iPad Mini.”
Pomerantz reports, “Other things kids want on the Nielsen survey: Nintendo Wii U, iPod Touch, iPod Mini [sic, she means iPod nano – MDN Ed.] and iPhone. Looks like Apple’s going to clean up this holiday season, just not in my house.”

MacDailyNews Take: It’s going to be a very merry Christmas for Apple in 2012!
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “David E.” for the heads up.]
…and then their stock will drop!
WTF!!!
Bill Gates’ kids want the same things as other kids but in a cruel twist of irony being children of one of the world’s richest people will not put Apple products in their stockings. Shame.
So, Oprah DID purchase appropriate gifts!
Second hand Zune! What more can you ask for?
I was just at the local University Medical Center for radiation therapy. The doctor I met with after my session took my iPad mini and tried it in his lab coat. He looked in astonishment at the resident and said all doctors and residents in radiation oncology are getting these. It’s a good day to be a stockholder.
Amazing, one doctor trying an iPad mini in his lab coat and discovering it fits, is going to raise stock prices…. truly amazing. I hope the rest of the medical professionals are clever enough to figure this out. I can’t wait to see the looks of astonishment.
Again, how does the relate to kids wanting iPads for Christmas?
Hey, it’s a neat anecdote. i enjoyed reading about this experience.
Don’t be a Dick. It was a good story that exemplifies why Apple products are successful. People see them and realize that they fulfill a need.
Of course.. This is a given. I knew the minute I saw it that kids will love it. Duh…
nah, give the little brats a Fire or a Surface!
then just watch their faces … and deal with it.
Yes , mum .
Can I have an ipad mini ? Mum !
I asked my 10 and 13 yo kids, “What do you want, iPad mini or iPod Touch 5?”
I am willing to spend an extra $60 each, for them to get the iPad mini.
Their answer, iPod Touch, because it’s just like the iPhone 5. You can put it in your jeans pocket, and it’s ultra portable.
So for this Christmas, I got them each an iPod Touch 5, for $270, after recycling their old iPods.
It doesn’t hurt we already have an iPad2 in the family, so maybe they feel satiated by that.
