Apple acquires 1,024 patents from Rockstar Bidco consortium

“Korea Intellectual Property Protection Association (KIPRA) announced on November 13 that the rights to 1,024 of Rockstar Bidco’s patents were transferred to Apple,” Yonhap News reports.

“Rockstar Bidco is a consortium comprised of Apple, Microsoft, Sony and Research in Motion (RIM), among others,” Yonhap News reports. “Apple owns a 58% stake in the consortium.”

Yonhap News reports., “695 of the 1,024 patents are currently registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the rest are in the process of being registered.”
