It's funny you should mention phantom and non-existing streets in Apple Maps. Google Maps has been showing my driveway as a street for a few years and some other roads where there are none.

And what's with the whole 3D maps thing. I could see how they might be useful... to Superman or the Jetsons, but for some walking or driving at street level... really?

I look at these things and they are a visual clusterfck to make out where anything is.

And, no... my vision is just fine.

does it not PISS you off!?

that Apple changes every industry, through sheer effort, vision?!

Apple is the one making everything ubiquitous like not other company, an allowing each of us user to lead a life as with such flowing ease due to its ingenious intersection of art & science, through its fusion or synchronicity between hard-and-soft-ware, that each of us CAN be the smooth operator Sade is!

whilst, all the competitors never change anything unless Apple does?!

competitors only change gimmicks, gadgetry, not overall experiences. they lack vision & zeitgeist, even gestalt. their ecosystems are not practical, not eco-nomic, not eco-logic. more chaotic than zen. nokia fell asleep. moto fell asleep. rimmjob fell asleep. android is pure chaos for users & developers & manufacturing partners. microsoft surface is just a surface (facade), with empty guts & plastics falling apart. yet all mock Apple's perfectionism or anal-retentiveness in manufacturing?! all their ads mock apple instead of mentioning their advantages over apple. just like the cheap car ads.

funny how everyone bitches about Apple Maps, i never had a problem, and so what if a few 3D images are flat, it still gets your direction. was google maps perfect when it launched? no. but why are Apple busters so hypocritical, lest their only goal is not objectivity over tripe, but to kill Apple, as it's the only way their beloved competitors win nowadays, or rather for the last 1-2 decades!? don't be cheap! be better!

why is it that every little mm Apple does wrong, it's Apple's downfall. yet competitors do nothing for the end user and there's no bad news, as if users wish life should be so stagnant?! it is users who spread the fud from the media socially, so users: get a life. do you seriously think by killing apple, that the industry won't regress to the dark ages again and not care for improving, smoothening your lives and not charge you 10x what they deserve?! seriously!?!

I want Apple's Maps to succeed brilliantly. As a former map maker for AAA I have a particularly keen eye for map accuracy. The maps that Maps deliver have been extremely inaccurate in my usage. In my own neighborhood there are numerous mis-named roads, phantom streets and non-existing dead-ends, etc.

No matter how pretty a map Apple's app can deliver, or how sweet the voice is for navigation, accuracy trumps all when it comes to guiding someone from Point A to Point B.

I'd like to find the time to go over ALL the things that Apple has made mainstream just to get a picture of what the world would be like without them.

We'd still be paying per file to transfer data to phones via email.

Developers will still be paying over 50 cents per dollar in profit when they created a mobile game.

We'd still be forced to pay $1.99 or MORE for a ringtone (which we'd then have to email to ourselves $$)

We'd still have physical keypads on most phones (now, keypad, keyboard phones are the exception)

We wouldn't have everyone focusing on 3d MAPS (basically a whiz bang feature, but both Google and Nokia are moving quickly in that direction where it was more of a "when we get around to it" thing before

and so on...

Even if you're not a fan of Apple, you have to admit they have and they continue to move other companies to the NEXT way to do things.
