On top of that, thanks to the sRGB standard, the image colors inside Pixelmator 2.1.3 will also look better. The sRGB color standard is widely used on most devices you come across every day, such as digital cameras, scanners, or even your iPhone. This means that the colors of images you edit in Pixelmator 2.1.3 will look absolutely perfect outside Pixelmator and across all of your Apple devices.

Starting to get harder and harder to come up with reasons against this sub-$30 app for people who need fairly competent image editing but aren’t at the stage of needing to drop the $$$ on full Photoshop.
Will my dozen or so Photoshop plugins work with Pixelmator??

Some people actually use PS for work.
I know, I’m one of them. I use several plugins. Mostly for silliness though, which is my point.
For my needs, in a production environment, Pixelmator is brilliant!
I’m glad to hear this, and hope to hear it more. Adobe needs some real competition. I get PS on my work machine of course, but for my personal Mac I’m pretty much priced out of upgrades now and stuck with CS4. Not a huge deal since I do 95% of my personal work in Lightroom, but one of these days I won’t be able to use CS4 any more. I hope Adobe sees the writing on the wall and revisits their draconian pricing structure.
I agree with the PS plugin anxiety! If you’re making money with PS…for myself (no financial link to Pixelmator or Europe except distant genetic heritage) I have re-evaluated my photo shoots and educated my clients in that I have move to even “cleaner shoots and simpler lines”, so to speak, to not distract from the subject matter. I have looked at some of my older work and the novelty of some of the “must have” PS plugins make the photos look old, amateur, tired and just need to be removed from the wall…that said most of my simple cleaner shots have stood the test of time and walls remain on my personal walls in all likelihood forever! As a professional you understand what I’m saying, re-evaluate your need, educate your client base, reduce your overhead with price gouging Adopy and move on…
Pixelmator is a great app that is more than worth the price and keeps getting better.

Nice update! I’m glad to see improvements like this. Between these updates and the updates to iDraw for vector art there is finally a nice alternative for those who don’t need all the extras the pro apps offer. I used this often before I went the adobe cloud route.
Finally. I don’t use PS that much but CMYK is the one thing I need. I still have an old version of Adobe Creative Suite on my TiBook 667 V1 that I pull out when I need it. Guess it’s time to upgrade to Pixelmator since I wasn’t going to give Adobe any more money.
