Look at Europe, which practices the republican ideas of “severe austerity” without also stimulating the economy. Double dip recession, shrinking economies, unemployment in the high teens to mid twenties and growing. The US, which stimulated its economy, is miles ahead of Europe now. And the non partisan economists (eg Moody’s, Beacon) have for months been saying that no matter who wins the election there’ll be 12 million more jobs by 2016 because the foundation has been laid and the hard work done. That’s where Romney got the line in his infamous 47% tape that he doesn’t need to do anything for the economy to improve. And the non partisan economists also agree that the biggest element of the current deficit are the Bush tax cuts. Followed by two unpaid for wars. They also agree that cutting top income tax rates DOES NOTHING to stimulate the economy or employment. You need to educate yourself in real world terms instead of relying on right wing propaganda. Bush took massive surplus created under the Dems and turned it into massive debt. The numbers don’t lie. Far more jobs are created under Dem administrations than under Republican ones.
Governments are not businesses. Countries are not businesses. They have different needs and different solutions to problems. Yes, deficits have to be cut but the best way to do that is stimulate the economy so that it becomes healthy and grows on its own again. Tea partiers want everyone to be on their own. Dems want us to all work together. Tea partiers are divisive (as shown by your post). Dems want us to all work together.
Look at Europe again. Belatedly, those countries are changing their austerity only policies to copy the stimulus programs Obama used.

Second, isn’t it a bit hypocritical to promise to “create” all these jobs if American’s will just hire this guy to run the government while he’s repeating over and over again… “Government can’t create jobs! Government doesn’t create jobs!” … ad nauseum…? Think about that one.

I wonder if people who write, “According to my analysis…” actually did an analysis or just like saying that they did. Of course, there would be so many variables in this case, I would wonder that a single “analysis” would be determinative anyway.

Oh please. Give it up. I’m sure Romney would allow for the repatriation of Apple’s foreign money. Jobs begged Obama to do this but it didn’t fit with Obama’s evil-big-business narrative.
Apple could have afforded to repatriate their money, it would have been the right thing to do without having to get a huge present for doing so. There is more to corporate citizenship than simply avoiding taxes because they can be avoided by parking money overseas. When corporations figure this out, I might be a little more willing to consider them worthy of all that “free speech” the Supreme Court granted them.

Since every other electronics maker manufactures in China too, I fail to see why this would particularly hurt Apple.
While I respect Nigan Arora’s opinion, I think he’s wrong on Apple. The Chinese people are nationalistic, but how they react to a trade war largely depends upon the propaganda from the government. The government controls the media message, and they will give the public their PR spin on any trade war. Apple, while American, is very intwined in the Chinese economy. Hurting Apple, may hurt 1M Chinese workers, so anything they try to do will be considered in its totality.

Yes, yes – I know – Barry hasn’t exactly set the world alight with his first four years but unemployment’s on the way down and things are starting to pick up after an economic downturn that’s hit everyone globally. Plus, I can’t believe anyone would seriously consider handing the keys to the country to a guy who thinks that airplanes should have windows that open.
Go on America – give Barry another four years and he’ll come good. And, according to polls outside of the US, you’ll make the rest of the world a much happier place.

Look, Romney made a lot of “Day 1” promises over the past couple of years. If he manages to pull out a win (against expectations), I am going to put together a checklist of all of them so that we can all go down the list and determine very clearly how *he* failed in his four years. That type of failure is inevitable, as Romney knows when he criticizes Obama, because no President is able to fulfill every goal. Sometimes things turn up, like 9/11 or a Wall Street meltdown or a major European Union recession and debt crisis, or a series of Arab Spring uprisings leading to widespread unrest in the Middle East and Africa.
Challengers always have lots of plans and promises, such as revenue-neutral massive tax cuts with no specifics on which “loopholes” and “writeoffs” will be eliminated to balance the rate cut. Personally, I am fine with Romney’s general approach, if it is included as part of a bigger effort to simplify the tax code. But I would demand that the loopholes and exemptions be eliminated *first* and then the tax cuts phases in as the impact on the annual deficit is measured and balanced with the tax cut objective. Tax cuts, even those funded on borrowed money, are far too easy to vote for and far too hard to reverse. If you doubt that, just take a look at the last ten years.
A trade war would affect every facet of American Life, from Walmart to Apple. Apple may be hurt a little more since they are trying to make inroads into the Chinese Consumer Culture, same with GM but declaring a Trade War with China is short-sighted chest-pounding.
That’s stupid. Apple is in a commanding position. The price is determined by Apple not the assembly plants. When your making 50 million items a year, Foxconn can’t afford too loose Apple. And remember that a tariff will effect all to ducts sold in the US. That includes Samsung. BTW, Romney will negotiate with Apple to bring in the $50 billion Apple has overseas and bring it back at a reduced tax rate. That will benefit apple and the US. Obama refuses to negotiate
