If you look at the two roofs, one on top of the other, they look like the profile of original iPads face down. Note also the radar domes are concealed somewhat to give a “clean” look.

When I first saw some of the new Cadillacs I thought “What are those weird looking boxes”, then I actually started seeing them and they looked pretty damn good after awhile. With this iShip it’s probably the same thing, boy it looks like something you would buy from IKEA.

Samsung, quickly copy that and make a Titanic based on it.

Pretty lame, you commission a floating phallus, spend wasteful amounts of money on it and you tip the craftsman with the cheapest iPod made?

I mean really, I am sure they were expecting nothing (the workers) but if you are going to take the time to make a gesture to someone, don’t just go through the motions and do something tacky and cheap. Give em iPhones or new touches or something. Clearly money is NOT an obstacle, taste, well that is another story.

I truly am shocked at how appalling this is, its like someone has taken the Jonny Ive minimalist look and given it to Gucci to bling up a bit and has gone completely over the top… and then for good measure gone over the top once again. Looks like a floating summerhouse after the flood hit. Thank God the original news that Starck was designing an Apple product proved foundless becasue I remember saying back then something like this studio specialises in taking minimalist to extremes and then adding pointless additions to shock. How true were those words.

I agree with “Weekend” and “macaholic” in that it does resemble a dreadnought that could have been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. That said, it definitely has Steve’s styling cues all over it. Personally I love it, and I find it humorous how some of these posters seem to take it as an affront to themselves. What a narrow minded viewpoint for professed fans of Apple and Steve Jobs.

As art, it’s OK I guess. Nautically, it doesn’t look very seaworthy. I agree with the barge-look comments. Imagine a storm in mid-ocean with a huge wave plowing into the bow. That superstructure looks like it would lift right off the ship in a hurricane or other severe storm at sea. It might be OK for tooling around the Mediterranean if it stayed close to the coast, but I’d be very wary of cruising across the ocean except in calm, stable seas.

I would like to sea a tour of the interior, though. I bet it’s spectacular.

Are you all blind? If nothing else it should mark a severely ironic footnote to history that a person credited with so much good taste could produce something as horrific as this. I was hoping it was a prank, like they would say “whoops, sorry; this is Steve Ballmer’s yacht, sorry sorry.. .. here’s Steve Jobs’ yacht.” and they fish out something like we would’ve expected?
Actually, from what I understand Jobs himself would never put pen to paper re design, but that he just had a talent for picking out the most beautiful of other people’s designs and putting the manufacturing muscle of Apple behind those designs. Jonathan Ive, for instance?

Sort of reminds me of the early dreadnoughts. Bigger than my boat. It’s different. Can’t say that I care for it. But I’d like to see different views. Who knows, maybe it would grow on you? I’ll bet that some very high-grade saltwater stainless! I’m going to guess that dents will show up on that hull. Oh well, it’s not my money. Different strokes for different folks. If that’s what he wanted then that’s what he should have. It was his money. Too bad he didn’t get to see it completed.

So it was Christened as “The Venus”.

Venus is the Roman goddess whose functions encompassed love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory. Sounds like Steve’s philosophy of creating beautiful products – Macs, iPods, iPhones, iPads, OS X.

To be fair, SJ’s yacht does look a bit edgy – sharp, straight prow and beveled stern with lots of flat surfaces. It isn’t something that I would necessarily have chosen (if I even had the money to commission a yacht). I didn’t see any details on the design, but I would have expected more indications of a “green” aspect to the design.

In the end, I like it, if only because it is one last view into the psyche of the person that was Steve Jobs.

I’m not keen on the rectangular glass command house, it looks too much like a house boat, but I do like the space needle-like hull.

If the superstructure had echoed the hull design in some way, I think it would have flowed much nicer.

There is the American classical composer Charles Ives. There is the British industrial designer (design chief at Apple) Jonathan Ive. There is no Jonathan Ives.

To me, the yacht has a very Jobsian minimalistic look. As for the ‘Tango’ of Feadship, it looks like something designed for a Russian tycoon. I can’t imagine Steve would want to be caught dead in such a thing. But that is just my personal opinion…

No way would Jonathan Ives design such an ugly yacht. Perhaps the interior is beautiful but the superstructure itself is horrendous. Most of the superyacht captains in the industry are of the same opinion. Looks like some semi modern Dutch barge. Check out the other Feadship Designs and you will see what I am referring to. The yacht Tango is one of them.
No disrespect whatsoever to the Jobs family.
