Garmin and others use resistive, not capacitive, touch screen technology. So you have to press hard enough to force two layers to touch, and you have to hold it for a fraction of a second for it to register. After using responsive iOS devices, it is hard to adjust to a resistive device.

My Garmin doesn’t have a touch screen, it has a “push” screen. Gotta push it, jab it, let the Garmin know who’s boss.

So true. Compared to the responsiveness of my iPod touch (from 2008), my recently acquired Garmin GPS is positively primitive. (Press. Nothing. Press Haaarder. Touch keyboard key. Get nothing. Touch again. Get the wrong letter.)

Reminds me of using the MB’s glass trackpad / Magic trackpad
You can rest your thumb there and it knows you’re not trying to do specific commands with it

This is what separates Apple from every other Tablet manufacturer. The other guys cant even detect an intentional touch effectively let alone an accidental one.
