Apple’s October 23rd special media event shows company can still keep secrets

“Apple’s media event Tuesday presumably to unveil its so-called iPad Mini tablet demonstrates that the consumer electronics giant can still keep secrets despite its massive size,” Patrick Seitz reports for Investor’s Business Daily.

“The business and technology press widely expect Apple to unveil a smaller tablet with a 7.85-inch display to complement its original 9.7-inch display iPads,” Seitz reports. “But beyond that, there are a lot of unknowns. Even the name iPad Mini isn’t a lock, with iPad Air and simply iPad being tossed around.”

Seitz reports, “Pricing is the biggest question mark, with analysts guessing the iPad Mini could start at anywhere from $250 to $399… Linked with the pricing issue are the components used in the iPad Mini. Such unknowns include the type of display used and how much data storage, processing power and wireless capabilities the new tablet will have.”

  1. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…………………. what the hell is the relevance of this story? It’s just regurgitating other stories! C’mon MDN, I know you like to pump up all the Apple stories but this is kind of silly. And quit changing the headlines of the stories that you are repeating please. Geez, you add adjectives that just aren’t there in the real headlines. Just go with the story and the original headline please. No need to make the headlines something that they are not. Gushing not allowed.

    1. I dunno. I think it’s pretty impressive that the only leaks these days are from the supply chain. All the in-house stuff remains well guarded. That’s hard to do, and I think it speaks well of Apple and the attitude of its workforce.

  2. I don’t know about y’all… But I’ve been keeping tabs on the rumor mill for a decade or so. Apple has been doing just fine keeping secrets lately.

Yeah, there’s a little questionable leak here or there that turns out to be true in the end. Nothing new.

  3. yeah, apple ‘still’ keep it. but thanks to internet, it can’t be possible anymore. most people, who are interested in this company, already know this new product. there are few leak pics, parts, and so on. according to 9to5mac.com, 8GB ipad mini will start $329. there is even a model numbers on chart. it’s very obvious. but I don’t want to pay $329 for 8GB. you can still buy 7 inch google nexus only $199. it’s wasting money to throw it to apple. by the way, speaking of profit, don’t expect too much that apple will sell it like hotcake. it’s the different game now. google, amazon already dominate market. apple can’t penetrate. it will be tough. price won’t match with competitors, lower hardware spec, the same old iOS (nothing special), and price. ipad mini will be doom like apple TV.

You are under arrest for the murder of the English language!!!
Anything you say will probably be incomprehensible and therefore used against you in the MDN comments section.

    2. Edward,

When tomorrow the starting price is not $329 will you come back and apologize? When it’s obvious that the overall quality is much better than Nexus 7 will you come back and say so? When you wake up and realize Amazon doesn’t dominate =, but instead sells only a handful of millions will you come back then?

Or will you do what you always do and wait for the next story to claim somehow it’s no good?
