See, I don’t get this mentality. If Apple destroys Android you will get less features on iOS from here on out. iOS’s notification system wouldn’t be nearly as good without Android, Siri wouldn’t have been designed to compete with Google Voice Commands (and Google Now wouldn’t be as good if it didn’t have to compete with Siri as well). Everyone benefits from 1-upping eachother in the industry. It’s always been this way, so all this teamApple teamAndroid crap is nonsense. Destroying the competition doesn’t help tech progress. Did you know Androif has Floating windows apps now too? Tell me you wouldn’t like to see Apple add that next! How about split-screen like Cornerstone for Android and split-view on Galaxy Note. Android isn’t just for nerds. It’s presently the most popular OS in the mobile world, and there are very good reasons why that’s the case. As an Android user, I hope Apple’s iPad Mini beats the Nexus 7 in sales (due to features), in hopes that Google will once again try to 1up Apple, and vice versa. Let’s not sue over slide to unlock and black rectangles, or with other OSs dead for no good reason, let’s reap the benefits of counter-innovations!

Regardless… mini me iPad is too late in the game. iPad users are just fine with their iPads and probably have walked by all 7″ tabs without even blinking an eye. Propaganda aside by the folks who get paid to positively precursor Apple product launches this mini me iPad will simply nestle in as part of Apple’s offerings and yes maybe at the cost of iPad sales.

Our local Best Buy has been out of stock on iMacs for a while now, so I’m hoping Apple will make this a multiple product release announcement, perhaps under some common theme such as education needs.

Year after year, there always some sort of HW parts leaked out prior to every Apple event.

As far as I can tell, there is just one very critical component of every Apple event NEVER leaked out… that’s the huge banners Apple used to hang around the event venue. Am I wrong??

I think denial of the iPad Mini is in respectful deference to Steve Jobs view on smaller tablets but Jobs was well known to change his mind and I believe he had changed his mind on this too. It’s true there won’t be an iPad Mini named as such but with a different name no doubt.

xPad? iPadm? MiniPad? iPad7? iPaddy Cakes? iPad Jr.? iPad Slim? iPad Svelte? PortaPad? HandyPad? CarryPad? We’ll know for sure on 10/23/12.

Just saw a price list(?) with a WiFi only 8Gb model selling for $249, 16Gb @$349 and with other Cellular models and Gb capacities.

Do you deny the mountain of evidence in the shape of manufacturing mockups, credible reports from solid news sources, suppliers leaks, case maker samples, and a multitude of sources, not least the statement made by Eddie Cue that a smaller form factor tablet has a place within Apple’s line up.

My prediction:
Oct. 23 – iPad mini, product announcement, pre-order immediately.
Oct. 26 – MS Surface enhanced announcement. iPad mini launch.
Unknown future date – Surface launch? (Still questionable).
