iPhone buyers in nine countries were queuing up to purchase Apple’s new iPhone 5 today. The nine countries that are first to get the latest version of the iconic device are: US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK.

“It’s too early to say whether the lines that greeted Apple’s latest mobile phone are longer or shorter than those for the iPhone 4S last year,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.

P.E.D. reports, “But the videos coming in from overseas suggest that demand remains strong.”
