Apple today released OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 which is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users and includes new features and fixes.
Facebook
• Single sign on for Facebook
• Adds Facebook as an option when sharing links and photos
• See Facebook friends’ contact information and profile pictures in Contacts
• Facebook notifications now appear in Notification Center
Game Center
• Share scores to Facebook, Twitter, Mail, or Messages
• Facebook friends are included in Game Center friend recommendations
• Added Facebook “Like” button for games
• Challenge friends to beat your score or achievement
Other new features
• Adds Power Nap support for MacBook Air (Late 2010)
• iMessages sent to your phone number now appear in Messages on your Mac*
• You can now add passes to Passbook (on your iPhone or iPod touch) from Safari and Mail on your Mac*
• FaceTime can now receive calls sent to your phone number*
• New shared Reminders lists
• New sort options allow you to sort notes by title, the date you edited them, and when you created them
• Dictation now supports additional languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, Canadian English, Canadian French, and Italian
• Dictionary app now includes a French definition dictionary
• Sina Weibo profile photos can now be added to Contacts

The OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 update also includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, including the following fixes:
• Adds an option to discard the changes in the original document when choosing Save As
• Unsent drafts are now opened automatically when launching Mail
• Receive Twitter notifications for mentions and replies from anyone
• URLs are shortened when sending tweets from Notification Center
• Notifications are disabled when AirPlay Mirroring is being used
• Adds SSL support for Google searches from the Smart Search Field in Safari
• Adds a new preference to have Safari launch with previously open webpages
• Resolves an issue that may cause the “Enable Autodiscover” checkbox to always remain checked
• Enables access to the Mac App Store when Parental Controls are enabled
• Support for @icloud.com email addresses
• Resolves a video issue with some VGA projectors when connected to certain Mac notebooks
• Addresses an issue that may prevent Active Directory accounts from being locked out
• Resolves an issue that may cause the policy banner to re-appear prior to logging in
• Improvements to SMB
• Addresses an issue with NIS users when auto-login is enabled
• Addresses an issue in which the Keychain may not be accessible
• Ability to pre-authenticate a FileVault protected system
• Addresses an issue that may cause Xsan to not automatically start after migrating from Mac OS X Snow Leopard

I find it pathetic that people wish to share very boring detail of their life, equally pathetic others want to read about it, and abominable people will share all to a company that spends all its time mining your data and connections to target ads at you.

Terminal isn’t there, in your face as an option for everything you do. It is well in the background.
People aren’t condemning Facebook users as much as the perception that it has to somehow be added to iOS and now OSX.
I think Apple should make the Facebook option turned off/on in System Preferences.
Choose your friends more cearful and you’ll be fine…

Care about FB integration? No.
Care about FB in general? Yes. As are about 3/4 of my friends, age range from 25-45.
My dad is 70 and, after church, Facebook is his most important social outlet.
My 28 Yr old daughter is a Facebook fanatic, but her mental age is about 16, so your probable correct in your 18 or so age figure.

For newer Mac owners, it’s good practice to download/install Combo updates.
Okay, it’s up there now…but something is odd. The file size for the Combo update is 9MB less than the incremental update. Hmmm?

I don’t use it much, but I know MANY who do and practically live on FB. So this will make those people very happy. It’s not just about you or me. The feature isn’t bothering you any if you don’t use it. Just ignore.

Forget about Facebook and Gamecenter. Have never used either. Too intrusive into my life.
I have a working machine and would like to see “Save As” returned to its original state. Versions and lack of Save AS is causing problems for many of us who do real work instead of socializing and playing games. (i do like angry birds)

This is now my favorite holiday.
Facebook has become now more intrusive than I’d like. All “friends” birthdays are showing up in my calendar and every time one of them posts, I see it in my notification center. Hope there’s a way to easily change this.
can’t put my finger on the sentiment exactly, but Apple adding a service like FaceBook on the sys level, is a new low-point in their history. This is something Microsoft would’ve done in the late 90s. I really hope there is a way to completely erase all traces of Facebook on my OS.
Sorry if I missed it but Mac OS X (Lion) Server Update is available too – v 10.7.5. It comes in a small 978.6 MB package. No doubt an update to Lion is available as well.

I love the fact along with IOS 6, iMessages, will now sync correctly (my mac’s and iPad now send imessages using my phone number)…. since i installed IOS 6 on my iphone and ipad earlier this week, they have been working great :-)… early tests of 10.8.2 also look good :-)..
Has any body had the chance to test iMessages on OSX and see if it syncs properly with iOS 6 yet?

The update failed for me and it wouldn’t update from the App Store when I looked for it again. I had to install it from the recovery partition. The last update went much smoother.
I do like the enhancements though.

this update failed for me too. It crashed my appstore and calendar apps. I tried to download it again from apple’s home page. The installation failed again.
How did you fix the problem?
I restarted and held down the option key. That let me choose the recovery partition. When it rebooted I selected Reinstall OS. That forced a re-download of the 10.8.2 update. When that was done it took me back to regular boot disk and 10.8.2 showed as installed.
Not quite as frustrating as installing Lion, but better than a full reinstall on a wiped disk.
