Earlier today, Apple released iTunes 10.7.
iTunes 10.7 adds support for iOS 6 running on compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models. This update also adds support for the latest iPod nano and iPod shuffle models.
iTunes makes it easy to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows and more on your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod. iTunes includes the iTunes Store, a place you can download everything you need to be entertained, day or night. iTunes now stores your purchases in iCloud and makes them available on your devices anywhere, any time, at no additional cost. iTunes now also includes iTunes Match. Store your entire music library in iCloud so you can enjoy your collection anywhere, anytime, on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, computer, or Apple TV.
iTunes 10.7 requirements
Hardware:
• Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
• To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 1GB of RAM is required.
• To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required.
• Screen resolution of 1024×768 or greater; 1280×800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
• Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
• Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or back-up CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work
• Apple SuperDrive to back up your library to DVDs; some non-Apple DVD-RW drives may also work
Software:
• Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later
• Safari 4.0.3 or later
• 350MB of available disk space
• iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match availability may vary by country.

“iTunes now also includes iTunes Match.”??? Haven’t I had that since last Oct.?
That’s just old marketing schpeel stuff they stuck at the top of the ReadMe for newbies. Typically, ReadMes aren’t talking to We The Geeks.
Actually what they’re talking about is how Match and other Purchased content is now integrated into the iTunes library. You can see all your content right in the library and just download any that isn’t currently available, with out needing to go into the iTunes Store.

the “no additional cost” thing is referring to re-downloadable purchases which is not new.
How do iTunes Match without a Mac? Post PC era? if I’m iPad only? So? Till oct. Let’s work on it.
I just downloaded and don’t see the features mentioned in the keynote. Looks like the new iTunes is coming in Oct.

Guess I’m staying on iTunes 6 since my server is an old Power Mac G5 running Leopard 10.5.8. Maybe I’ll update the server one day if Apple ever puts out a Mac Mini capable holding 2TB of internal drives from the factory.
good config. no reason to ditch a PowerPC machine when it still works great as a media server.
FWIW, you can also have the PowerPC machine host all the files, and keep the iTunes directory on a portable (I recommend the Air).
Doesn’t seem all that special to me. Probably just some minor bug fixes or changes to accomodate the coming hardware which I don’t have.
This is just a stop gap that holds you over until iTunes 11 in October so that you can use IOS 6 devices in service Sept 21…. Nothing new… Just can’t release new devices and IOS and have iTunes stop functioning.
I have been using iOS 6 on an iPad and an iPhone since the first iOS 6 beta months ago and have not had the first problem with iTunes Match. All of my music from iTunes 10.6.3 was available on all devices and the option to automatically add new music to my devices, however undesirable, was there as well…
I’m not sure exactly what we’ve added here. What I do know, however, is that once you go to the final release of iOS 6 (iOS 6 GM,) that device will no longer sync via iTunes Match to any version of iTunes before 10.7. That being said, my development experience would say that there is a flaw in 10.6.3 that somebody wants to bury. 🙂
I hope it fixes the “app version number” and the “downloading current version, not the new version, of the app again” bugs.
Does anyone know whether the iTunes player on the iPhone 5 has been updated? I know this may be considered as cutting edge technology by some, but it would be great to be able to crossfade tracks/playlists on the iPhone…this being 2012 and all. Setting markers and notes in longer podcasts would also be cool (esp for lectures etc). Also, why does coverflow only work on the master lib? If I have a playlist and decide to browse through the tracks by using coverflow, I’m being taken to the master lib. That’s beyond retarded.
