“Earlier this week, we reported that the iPhone 5 (codenamed N42) will share the stage with a string of new iPod announcements on September 12th,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac.
“At that time, we believed Apple would introduce two-to-three iPod refreshes next week, and now, we’ve received some more information on the matter,” Gurman reports. “Based on the information we’ve received, Apple will be introducing a tweaked iPod shuffle, new iPod nano, and new iPod touches.”
Gurman reports, “The new iPod touch line situation appears much more interesting than the new iPod nano and iPod shuffle lines. The current iPod touch line features three prices and capacities all with the 2010, fourth-generation design. For this year, though, we’re hearing that Apple will retain the fourth generation design for the entry-level iPod touch configuration, and redesign the two higher priced models.”

New nanos look interesting
The iPod touch is a real sleeper for this event. Then again it’s been a sleeper throughout its existence.
New iPod Touch = iPad Mini? Bigger screen, Retina display? iPod Huge?
iPod maxi
I’d like a Classic with 256Gb of storage, please.
Failing that, a Touch with at least 180Gb.
Thank you.
I’ve also been guilty of this. We often make requests on the eve of a product release as though Apple is going to read it and say: “OK, Foxconn boys and girls. Back to the plant. A request has come in for a 256Gb Classic for this Wednesday.”
I really hope that the new iPod nano has a speaker so that I could really use it as a wrist watch.
In fact, it should be a boombox.
In the constant improvement of mobile devices, one area that has been neglected is the quality of the speaker audio. There’s not much problem with headphone audio, but speakers on these devices are still pretty lame. They should by now be able to project surround-like sound and at a respectable volume.
Tim Cook. Your new security measures suck.
I want a surprise on September 12th.
Thanks.
This talk of a new iPod touch…and yet no case leaks.
I am a little skeptical, yet hopeful.
128 gig please.
