“The good news is that HTC’s next 10-inch tablet won’t look like an iPad,” John Brownlee reports for Cult of Mac.
“Instead, it will look nearly identical to a unibody iMac instead, right down to its OS X style dock and lopsided, 16:9 aspect ratio design,” Brownlee reports. “The images of the unnamed tablet were discovered by Twitter user evleaks and seemingly pulled from an HTC video online.”
Brownlee reports, “The device may not be a real product, but instead a prototype or a promo. Certainly, this is not a tablet that has been announced or released yet.”

The imitation is akin to cutting in line at Splash Mountain and not having to go through the long line wait of proper R&D. There is no Apple “Fast Pass” for other manufacturers to use.

I am guessing that you did not read the article about Microsoft licensing from Apple. They also agreed NOT TO copy Apple stuff. It was very specific licensing.

It may be unfair but, manufactures are learning that even through you risk Apple coming after you . . .
If you make your product look as much as an Apple product as you can get away with, people will buy it. If you try to create your own design, people will say who?
To me a violation of trade dress when you make your products even LOOK like they could have been made by a particular manufacturer, be it Apple, Bang & Olufsen, etc.. That’s just marketing by confusion and not any kind of genuine innovation or differentiation.

That photo used for the wall paper looks a lot like the “Pyramid Lake (at Night)” photo by Richard Misrach Apple bought a 5 year exclusive license to for the original iPad launch.

Well, as far as I can tell it IS Pyramid Lake, shot at almost the exact same angle. If you look at the profile of the mountains in Apples photo compared to the one in the HTC photo, it is IDENTICAL…. but I would say it is not the same photo (that Misrach shot). Of course there is nothing illegal about going out and taking another photo at the same angle, but the fact that they did this is enough to make me throw up.
My iMac wants to sue for identity theft.
So that’s what the new touchscreen iMac looks like. Wow
