Between Dingdong and Giggle, I am not sure which one spews more absolute crap from their lips.

Giggle at Siri Launch - Your phone should not be your assistant, you should not talk to it.

Giggle about a year later - Yeah buddy, voice is where it's at and that's a fact Jack.

Giggle - We better help Dingdong, give them access to our law firm... damn, they lost, "This does not really affect us, no, not really, no, seriously, we are good."

Dingdong - We tried to negotiate but they sued, HUH? No, Dingdong, Apple set the terms and you said Eff off!

May they sleep with each other with the scorpions, black widows and cobras in their nice neat little bed.

Luckily for me, I've gotten by fine without a TV of any kind for the past four years so I haven't been in danger of getting a Samsung one in ages, but I recently had to buy a new refrigerator and, lo and behold, the first choice the salesperson at the store recommended me was indeed a Sammy. I quickly told him that it was out of the question and thankfully he didn't press the issue further, lol. I may have gone into a bit of a rant otherwise =D

we are very disappointed by......

What's actually disappointing, Samsung, is your intransigent REFUSAL to admit your guilt OR to actually innovate anything. Instead you FAKE your technology and LIE about its originality and WHINE WHINE WHINE when you get caught and properly spanked for your dirty deeds. Why do you bother to remain in business if all you can do is PLAGIARIZE and PARASITIZE.

Samsung, please go die and do the world a favor.

abuse of patent law, not the pursuit of innovation...

OIC! Pull the old propaganda trick of LYING the OPPOSITE of what is true in order to fend off that exact criticism of yourself. Yawn. Seen that a few million times before. FAIL! It has now been proven that YOU sought to abuse patent law by skirting around it with your blatant mimicry of Apple. It is YOU who absolutely REFUSE to innovate, then cry fowl when you're CAUGHT RED-HANDED.

Samsung, please go die and do the world a favor.

We trust that the consumers and the market will side with those who prioritize innovation over litigation...

That is exactly what has happened and will continue to happen. Thank you Apple for being THE greatest innovative force in computer technology. FRACK YOU Samsung for wasting everyone's time and money with this needless lawsuit, needless if YOU lazy bums had bothered to innovate yourselves.

I would almost guarantee this is Samsung's American lawyers pushing for the appeal. More money to them and the their buddies on the Apple side. If the law was set up that lawyers get absolutely nothing if they lose a case and had to cover all legal fees of winning side, there would be no appeal. Justice is finally decided and they get to appeal? This was not decided on summary judgement by a judge but by a jury.

Just goes to show how deluded the ivory tower inhabitants are at SameDung. I'm a Korean-American and I find Samsung to be a despicable company that is only where it is because of its cozy and corrupt relationship with South Korea's dictatorship governments of the 60's through the 80's. By the 90's when real democracy had set in, it was too late. Samsung had entrenched itself and spread its slimy tentacles all over the Korean government, politics, economy, culture and society.

Samsung and other chaebol conglomerates in Korea were mainly propped up by heavy government subsidies during the dictatorial presidency of Park Chung-Hee (assassinated in 1978). They bribed and cheated their way to the top through exploitation of cheap Korean labor and then stealing key Japanese technologies. There's really nothing very admirable about the histories of these corrupt conglomerates that more resemble Mafia families.

I love Korea but the way these sprawling conglomerates dominate every aspect of the country is repulsive and very sad. More Americans need to know about Samsung. Just do a Google/Wikipedia search on Lee Kun-Hee - the CEO/Chairman of the Samsung Group and the youngest son of the founder. That explains it all.

And it was only months ago that Lee and his siblings got in an ugly public spat fighting over their father's inheritance - some $600 million or so. They were calling each other thieves and all kinds of other nasty names and Lee clenched his teeth in a TV interview and said that his brother won't be getting a penny from him. The Korean public got so disgusted that Lee had to make a public apology. That's Samsung for ya.

"We trust that the consumers and the market will side with those who prioritize innovation over litigation, and we will prove this beyond doubt."

The funny thing with this Orwellian corporate double-speak is that the public knows Apple is an innovator. That's their whole "thing". Steve Jobs, reinventing industries, innovative industrial design, making the whole widget, etc.

This kind of talk from Samsung will get the googlegeeks and fandroids all hot an bothered, but the general public will see through it all.

This is probably the stupidest thing Samsung could choose to do: not by appealing the verdict, but by acting as if they did nothing wrong. If this is the result of the 'helpful' legal advice they've been getting from Google, then they deserve what they will get. This will play right into Apple's hands when the hearing for requesting a ban on Samsung's products finally arrives.

Samsung didn't "initially propose to negotiate." Don't be fooled peeps. Also, Samsung wasn't trying to negotiate but rather force Apple to accept their terms and then continue copying. Apple saw that Samsung was ripping them off just as Google did.

Samsung says, "History has shown there has yet to be a company that has won the hearts and minds of consumers and achieved continuous growth, when its primary means to competition has been the outright abuse of patent law, not the pursuit of innovation." If Samsung, and others weren't stealing Apple's work, Apple wouldn't be aggressively seeking patents for their own creations! Besides, Apple HAS won the hearts of minds of most of the world, except downtown Korea perhaps.

Samsung still wants to undo the patent system with this announcement. Without the laws, they would be busy copying everything they can and flooding the market with Samsung junk. The fact is they don't and would rather soften the laws so they can continue copying and stealing.
