“Now that Apple has quietly added Hulu Plus to Apple TV,” Terry White blogs, “you have a choice in streaming TV/Movie content providers.”
“I wasn’t interested in Hulu Plus at all! I didn’t see any advantage over Netflix, but I decided that since it was now built-in to my Apple TV I’d give it a shot,” White writes. “Hulu Plus is $7.99/month for unlimited watching and Netflix is $9.99/month for unlimited watching. The different is Hulu Plus still has commercials that you are forced to play before the program starts and usually in the middle of your show. There is no way to skip these ads. Right off the bat I have a problem paying for streaming AND seeing ads too!”

MacDailyNews Take: Which, if any, do you prefer on your Apple TV, Hulu Plus or Netflix and why?
I prefer to buy my content and watch it commercial free whenever possible. If it’s worth watching it’s worth paying for…so I buy Season Passes of everything in iTunes. Cut the cable cord years ago.
I tried the free trial of Hulu+ and wasn’t impressed. I hear about being able to see just aired shows but I could find any for the shows I watch. So given that most of the shows I watch are on both services and commercial free on Netflix then the answer is simple, Netflix is better.
I have also been looking at Amazon Prime vs Netflix. With the two there are enough differences that I would use both. I hope Apple adds Amazon Prime to Apple TV.
I see a time in the near future were I’ll drop cable TV because everything I need will be available on my Apple TV.
Netflix is established in our household and we’re not switching any time soon.
Netflix has more family programs.
Hulu is oriented toward adults.
Since we’re a family and not into violence, one of the reasons we don’t subscribe to cable, I think Netflix wins over Hulu in our situation.
Netflix is the best by far. Good selection, ad free. I will never pay for content AND be forced to watch mindless ads. Hulu can piss off.
Netflix is $7.99 not $9.99 by the way.
I have used Netflix for a few years now and been with Hulu Plus for about 4 months. Although I don’t like the commercials on Hulu I do like having more content to watch. I mostly watch anime and tv shows. Hulu updates their content much more then Netflix. From what I’ve seen specifically with anime and tv seasons Hulu updates in a month what Netflix will add in a year.
Netflix is great for movies and Hulu for tv seasons.
hi there netflix is now in 3d they just added 3d movies on netflix
I would definitely lock kids up for stealing content. We wouldn’t have to lock up many to make the point. Scared straight, etc. Why is that the government is up in arms over Chinese hackers stealing secrets from our corporations but when people steal songs and movies, the digerati says “get used to the future” and “you’re too rich, anyway.” The lesson in that is that stealing intellectual property from engineers is wrong but stealing intellectual property from Tom Waits and Peter Gabriel is just fine.
