“LG Display has started mass production of a new and thinner display, widely speculated to be for use in Apple Inc’s next iPhone, and the display’s production schedule remains in line with customers’ product release plans, LG’s chief executive said,” Miyoung Kim reports for Reuters.
“‘We just began mass production and we don’t expect any disruption in supplies,’ Han Sang-beom, chief executive of LG Display, a panel supplier for Apple products, told reporters late on Wednesday,” Kim reports. “His comments were embargoed until early Thursday morning. Apple is planning a major product launch on September 12, stoking speculation that the world’s most valuable technology company will announce the sale of its redesigned iPhone.”
Kim reports, “Sources have told Reuters that the panels for the new iPhone will be 4 inches corner to corner — 30 percent bigger than current iPhones. The iPhone screens will also be thinner than previous versions with the use of so-called in-cell panels.”

Doubtful, 3d screens on handheld do nothing but give you a migraine. Apple isn’t this kind of company to adopt problematic technology… Unless ofcourse they have developed some kind of ground breaking new 3d technology that breaks the mold. This is possible, but i still doubt it. 3d on the iPhone is simply a bell or whistle that is completely Un-nessessay. Now, of you hold the phone flat on the palm of your hand and the person you are talking to pops up in a green hologram like Darth Vader in Starwars… That an entire new ball game… 🙂

Interesting to note the rumored September 12 event appears to be a fact to the writer.
This is where it starts. With LG, formerly known as Gold Star, the Korean company that flooded America with so much electronic plastic crap, they had to change their name in order to ditch their past.
I’m predicting flaws will surface in these new panels, becoming a customer service issue for Apple.
