Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer chooses Apple iPhones over Android phones for all 10,000+ employees

“Newly appointed Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is giving her entire staff new iPhones, which has to burn her former Google colleagues a little,” Rebecca Greenfield reports for The Atlantic Wire.

“She could have picked an Android device for the ten thousand-plus people who work at the company. But she didn’t, instead suggesting spending a couple million on the Apple product, according to Business Insider’s Nicholas Carlson,” Greenfield reports. “Mayer herself had an iPhone when she worked at Google, notes Carlson, so maybe it’s not that surprising. “

Greenfield reports, “By forgoing Android devices, though, Mayer is showing that her loyalties are no longer with Google.”

MacDailyNews Take: Perhaps she just wants the best possible smartphones for her employees.

Greenfield reports, “Mayer doesn’t work at Google anymore, so she’s released from any allegiance she once had to Google’s products.”

  I can already hear the iHaters crying foul about how she sold her soul to Apple. I’ve already seen a couple of articles of irate bloggers crying about how she forced her employees to use iPhones and took away their freedom of choice.

Ever since Google began pulling its shenanigans, I’ve used Yahoo! as my default search engine. Yahoo! seems the least harmful to my privacy and certainly far more ethical than Google.

Maybe Apple has noticed this as well, and perhaps Apple and Yahoo! have been working on something together.
