I dropped my iPad at the border crossing station from Quebec to Vermont. This was in July, I had bought it on CDN launch day in May. It was new, i was nervous, I forgot to zip the sleeve case shut and when I carried it away from the counter, there was a very loud bang of my 1st gen Ipad slamming into the hard tile floor, by falling from waist level vertically. It survived with a few scratches on the back. I had to “pop” the rim around the screen back into place and it has been fine since, 2 years later.

I think you skipped your US History 1865 to present lecture lecture on politics after WWII.

Just like today, the Democratic Patty in the past encompassed the full spectrum of ideologies, from very progressive to conservative.

So while Southern Democrats supported Jim Crow and tried to stop the integration of ‘the Negros’, they were very conservative, state succession supporters, or Dixiecrats.

Think crazy right wing tea partiers and not liberal progressives.

Remember, Strom Thurmond was their most vocal leader. He ran for president in the late 40′s, lost, and became an angrier, crazier conservative and finally switched to the Republican party (where all current ‘State Succession’ crazies reside).

If you are talking damage to big stuff – houses, etc. – then your logic would apply. But I suspect that most electronics are damaged from daily accidents such as drops and spills, not natural disasters.

Without sufficient information, this could also mean that more people in those states have these devices or that squaretrade is more popular in certain geographical regions of the country, which would increase the likelihood that squaretrade would be servicing warranties to those people.

I would have thought the most likely states for phone or pad damage would be from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, with Florida and Louisiana as well;
Anywhere that tornados and hurricanes are a regular fact of life has to mean your personal effects could well be compromised.
In fact anywhere from the Rockies to the Appalachians seems risky to me.
