“The US Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 23 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In our third and final granted patent report of the day we focus in on Apple’s sixth granted patent for solar power related technology. Our report also covers a secondary granted patent for an anti-theft system for iDevices based on using an accelerometer,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
The solar power “invention relates to portable electronic devices having multiple power interfaces,” Purcher reports. “As a theft prevention system for protecting a portable electronic device, one embodiment of the invention comprises an acceleration sensor, an audio output device, and a controller operatively connected with the acceleration sensor and the audio output device, the acceleration sensor, the audio output, and the controller each being proximate to the portable electronic device. The acceleration sensor is configured to sense an acceleration of the portable electronic device and provide an acceleration signal to the controller upon detection of the acceleration. The controller is configured to initiate the production of an alarm signal from the audio output based on the acceleration signal.”

very cool!
Can you imagine someone running around with a siren going off (I suppose you could select the “sound” that is emitted) and hoping it would stop. The vision makes me laugh!
Cheers.

San Franciso CA did what to Apple over EPEAT?
Ed209 voice from robocop would be awesome, it would really something if it dispense an electric shock or overclocks the CPU to make it run hot to the touch!
it’s hard to get excited anymore about patents when the courts do such a crappy job of enforcing them.
I agree, all patents awarded buy the patent office should defend by the patent office or be sued.
… and combine this new feature with our new iJIHAD! App and you can detonate a full 1/4lb of C4 as soon as someone picks up your iPhone sitting alone on a cocktail table, looking helpless in a crowded singles bar…
Some features of the iPhone can really be put to no good.
