“The Dolphins, fresh off three consecutive losing seasons, have finally decided to join the iPad Generation,” Mike Berardino reports for The South Florida Sun Sentinel.
“Instead of lugging around playbooks the size of the New York City White Pages, players now have their team-issued iPads updated with new entries,” Berardino reports. “‘It’s convenient,’ wide receiver Davone Bess said. ‘Every day we were getting stacks and stacks of papers with the installs. Now they can just download them on the iPad and it’s there — Bam!'”
Berardino reports, “So the Dolphins won’t be killing as many trees under Joe Philbin as they did under Tony Sparano.”
MacDailyNews Take: Paging Greenpeace… Greenpeace free PR addicts… Hello? Hmm, must still be chained to that tree.
Berardino reports, “This new approach truly brings the Dolphins into the modern-day NFL. ‘I love it,’ Dolphins running back Reggie Bush said. ‘It makes it so much simpler, and obviously that’s where technology has taken us nowadays. It’s amazing, and I’m glad we got it.'”

what ?? They didn’t replace it THE PlayBook ?? [sarcasm]
PlayBook is old news. Now there is the Surface. Go ahead, use your sarcasm one more time.
Surface = Predictably Hobbled Future Fail Technology or PHFFT…
Football players are just aching to use a stylus so the Surface/ZunePad would have been perfect to turn those Dolphins into a winning club.
NFL rules prohibit certain electronic devices on the field during regulation, iPads included.
I know. They even prohibit their use before the game. That limit is being moved down to only 30 minutes this season.
I bet the Pats will use them during the game.
Soon the NFL will be having drafts for geeks. Instead of “run per yard” the metric will be “lines of code per minute” and “hacking” will supplant “sacking”.
You sound like a New York Tebow Jets fan. Lots of luck winning with that team,
😀
Receiver checks his iPad at line of scrimmage ( held to wrist by Logitech iBungie) and runs his route flawlessly!.
There are plenty of reasons not to have them on the sidelines, but iPads would be fine for practice, team meetings and so players could study at home or in the hotel/team plane on road trips.
And when a player is cut, you don’t even have to tell him to “bring your playbook” — just remotely wipe the iPad or disable his login.
Even though they have been “my team” since the days of Mercury Morris, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Paul Warfield and others ( http://www.72dolphins.com/Roster/default.php ), switching to an iPad, sadly, will still leave them having a losing team.
But, I enjoyed their ’72 season… Go Dolphins!
Maybe in the future, the players will use a special “ruggedized” iPod touch, strapped to their forearm.
It’s not “Bam” Davone, it’s “Boom.” Get that Steve lingo right.
How long is it until one of these guys leaves one somewhere and another team gets a hold of it?
Let’s see… You insert a totally irrelevant attack on Greenpeace because… Now, why is that, exactly?
