Travis County approves tax incentives for Apple’s Austin campus expansion

“The Travis County Commissioners Court gave final approval Tuesday to an economic development agreement with Apple Inc. after weeks of discussions and contract revisions,” Vicky Garza reports for The Austin Business Journal.

“Under the agreement approved by a 4-1 vote, Apple will make a $282.5 million phased investment in Austin and bring about 3,600 new jobs to the area in exchange for $5.4 million to $6.4 million in tax rebates,” Garza reports. “Commissioner Sarah Eckhardt said she was disheartened that more was not required of Apple and was the sole vote against the deal.”

Garza reports, “Apple currently employs about 3,100 people at its campus in Northwest Austin and has promised to maintain those positions. The company received an $8.6 million economic development grant from the city of Austin in March and $21 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund.”

MacDailyNews Take: Smart move and, BTW, Travis County Precinct 2 residents, you need a new Commissioner: Sarah Eckhardt is obviously not equipped for the job; she’d rather see 3,600 new jobs and all that they bring – in Phoenix.

      1. I cannot express just how sick I am of people like you. You get all your information from Fox/Limbaugh and other liars, think you know how the other “side” thinks, and spout out inanities like you understand, even slightly, what’s going on in the world. The 1% thanks you for your obeisance.

        1. I cannot express just how sick I am of people like you. You get all your information from NY-Slimes, PMSNBC, Rachel MadCOW, and other liars, think you know how the other “side” thinks, and spout out inanities like you understand, even slightly, what’s going on in the world. The Flea Party thanks you for your obeisance.

        2. @ron – I can’t express how amazed I am of people like you. Somehow you’ve managed to convince yourself that this country isn’t moving increasingly further away from the values that made us strong. I can’t for the life of me understand how your “side” could possibly believe our country is changing for the better.

Thank God that Conservatives finally have a option for obtaining unfiltered information. The liberal biased news media has hidden the truth about our country for far too long. There’s a reason FOX News is the most watched. There’s a reason O’Reilly dominates the ratings. And, there’s a reason people on your “side” hate FOX – because you can no longer bend Americans to your will.

        3. Well said Pirate.

Liberals bite the big one and are dangerous, parasite, racists, hell bent on destroying all that is good. God help us if they ever fully succeed in their commie-nightmare end game.

        4. Why don’t you two mental giants celebrate by enjoying a real 69 together. You’ll probably enjoy it even more than this circle jerk you’ve got going on here.

        5. False Reality is what liberalism is all about. Complete sham. And you libtards are the perverts who will copulate with anything, human, farm animal, or otherwise, anytime, anywhere. We conservatives are too busy doing the real work while you parasite-taker-lazy-pieces-of-garbage destroy everything that is great.

        6. Hey Mario, why don’t you hop back into the video game you popped out of, you pathetic little cartoon character of a real man. I’ll bet the only way you can get it up is to stuff a hot salsiccia up your Italian toot hole.

  1. I live in Austin ad can confirm that her head in pushed up so very far in “you know where” that she can’t easily get it out everyday. Thankfully, I am not one of her constituents.

  2. Remember the Cupertino City Council woman who asked Jobs to give Free WiFi when he presented the plans for the new Apple campus there? Eckhardt demonstrates that not all of the foolish politicians live in California.

  3. Wait wait what???

“$282.5 million phased investment in Austin and bring about 3,600 new jobs to the area in exchange for $5.4 million to $6.4 million in tax rebates”

That investment and that many jobs for that little tiny tax break and she votes against it? … She should be disheartened that it was not a 5-0 vote… I just don’t get this….
